Very nice work, does that board have a standard 0.1" pitch? if so, where on earth did you get the Screw terminals that fit into it? i have been looking everywhere for those things lol.

My recommendation, for what it is worth, is a single cylindrical lens to control the fast axis, into a medium focal length convex lens (if required) and then into a microlens in a fiber coupler attached to a 400um or 600um multimode fiber. This will bring the M2 to about 6 and output a beam with a circular aspect. Use a beam expander to greatly expand the beam and focus it at distance to a very small point. It's almost a requirement to expand the beam for good focus at distance. You can expect injection losses at the microlens/fiber interface but with some patience you should be able to get a coupling efficiency of 80% or so. Calculating the combination of lenses is pretty straight forward as it is a ratio based system with some basic trigonometry thrown in for good measure. Any general physics book will provide all the equations necessary with the exception, perhaps, of numerical aperture concepts relating to the fiber.

Just got my new project going tonight . Made a 1W IR Labby using some diodes I acquired from Chris.

Im using a Meredith Module to colllimate the 9mm diode. As you can see from the video Im getting about 1.17a's thru the diode right now measuring across a 1% 1ohm power resister

Im viewing this thru the viewfinder of my Nikon L18 camera.

I have some questions.

1.) Right now It will burn great close up maybe 75 mm away. But at two feet will not burn anything as shown on video. I am now learning about multimode laser beams. Ah... I am only a grasshopper.

2.) What kind of lens can I purchase to focus the beam to a pinpoint at a great distance away from the emitter.
