Default Difference between 465nm and 462nm?

I've been considering buying one of the new NUBM07E diodes from DTR, partly because of the color. I don't happen to own a 473nm, so I don't really know how close it is to 462. I've got a 445 and 462 already - if the 465nm is overdriven up to 470nm, is there a significant visible difference between it and 462?

Take a look at this: Relative Laser Beam Brightness Calculator: (466nm 1mw) vs. (417nm 1mw)

It's not 100% accurate due to not everyone seeing the same color as good as another, but it'll give you an idea. I personally own the 465nm diode and am running it at 4A. Compared to my 473nm DPSS I can say that there isn't too much of a difference.

With only 3nm difference it won't be much, if you can even see it at all, you would have to view them side by side and even then I doubt many people would see a difference. At 5nm there is a visible difference, even then some people may need to see them side by side to tell the difference. I see a difference between 445nm and 450nm, and others see the difference between 515nm and 520nm so I don't know, but I think for sure more than 5nm and you should see a different color.

Be careful about going past 4.0 amps, you need to have your SXD driver set for a long ramp up or you can kill it.
The 07E stops making power at 4.0 amps and the spectral output shifts a little but it also turns all that extra power into heat and it already is getting 20 watts in to put 5 watts out so from 15 watts of waste heat @ 4.0 amps to 20 watts of waste heat and a stressed diode.
Duty cycle has to be kept down too.
I just run mine at 3.5 amps, It burns good and looks great, and it wont die the next time I turn it on.

Hi,
I have all of the WL described in this thread my 465 is driven at 5.oA SXD long ramp up G2 . it runs warm at 2 minutes but not hot in a mag light custom that i modded myself. At 5.oA it hits the specto at 470.16nm. There is a visual difference between 445,462,and 465 ran at higher currents but with respective duty cycles. But it is luck of the draw with any diode well i got a freak

I am not able to see a difference between 462nm & 465nm but I can see a difference between 462nm & 470nm so if you can get the diode near or at 470nm you should see a difference also.
BTW 473nm is a great color and one of my favorite lasers

Been using it for a while now and I doubt it'll die because of overheating. My heatsink should allow for over 5 min duty cycles, although I run it for 2-3 mins at a time maximum. I also have my driver heatsinked in a different way than most do, making it dissipate heat even better.

How did you sink your driver just curious. I sink my drivers when possible to the main heat sink always lots of mass. Copper chips on the driver IC is Ok at times when room doesen't alow..

This is how I heatsinked my driver. Instead of sticking it to the back of the heatsink with only one side, I decided to completely cover it in Arctic Alumina and put it inside the back of an Aixiz housing. Then I just pressed it into the back of the heatsink making it able to dissipate heat in every direction rather than having it dissipate heat on just one side of the driver. This only works if the heatsink is long enough to fit two full-sized Aixiz modules. See this thread for more pictures.

I have both running in DJ projectors next to each other with the 465 run a little below normal (3amps - thanks DTR) because it's constant duty. There is a subtle but obvious difference in color with the 465 being more of a 'windex' looking color. That's the term in the LED field we use to desribe royals (450) and cool blue (~470). If the two were running at the same current the brightness would be hard to notice, if at all.
Biggest difference in the much greater multimode spread of the 465.
