Here I'm again
After the first Cypreus IIIb version:

http://laserpointerforums.com/f40/n...-cypreus-iiib-modified-heatsink-jl-94913.html

the second Cypreus IIIb (reloaded) version:

http://laserpointerforums.com/f42/6...-adapted-355nm-linos-beam-expander-95471.html

and the third Cypreus IIIB (revolution) version:

http://laserpointerforums.com/f65/cypreus-iiib-revolution-20x-dioptika-beam-expander-98152.html

it is the time to do the final (reactivated) version!
I promise You that that there will not be the "resurrection" version !!:crackup:

Since I was not fully satisfied of the dioptika beam expander
(item too heavy, focusing mechanism slow and sloppy, high loss of power, fast axis becomed too large), I have found a small, short, fixed magnification version
of the Linos beam expander.
Among the other things, the lens coating of this BE is perfect for the 450nm diodes, so the power loss in near to zero!
This is the item:

https://www.qioptiq-shop.com/en/Pre...10x.html?sid=iaaua55bvcq7ovt2n0fr9l849t1effv9

Since the lens entrance aperture is 3mm max, I was forced to play a lot with the divergence to achieve a dead focus as near as possible to the
three elements glass lenses.
The best spot was at about 4.5mm from the aperture, so I created a special adaptor to place the beam expander at the correct distance.
To check if everything is ok, it was enough to set the BE focus at the max expansion factor and check that the beam bar do not touch the borders of the
output lens:

I obtained a 10x magnification also with a small output lens because the input beam was focused just over the first small input lens,
so the beam waist was very very narrow.
The bar obtained looks more like a rectangle rather than a line, and using the whole of the BE thread is resulting in a fine and precise adjustment.
The output beam is very nice, the fast axis is not too wide for a 10x magnification factor and looks more as a 3x expanded beam!
So here it is the beautiful build:

The dots seems identical. The Linos expander has eliminated the two wings around the dot:

The power of a collimated beam:

For a 450nm diode with three elements glass lenses and a beam expander it is always a good output power!
My diode has a little kink after 55 seconds from power on that permit to earn an extra output power of about 200 mW .. strange and nice thing :p

This is my definitive version of the Cypreus IIIb!
This beam expander is fantastic in conjunction with three elements glass lenses, while the Thorlabs 3x with his big input aperture is suitable
for the corrected beams (405-G2 lens plus corrective optics).

Enjoy!

Another great build... I love these wavelengths as they are my favorite. I hope to step up and make a very nice build with BE soon! Thanks for sharing.

Ive always been impressed with your work, but here you've really out done yourself! Those dots are incredible ! + rep

Great work, love what CDBEAM does, excellent projects you have come up with and excellent work done to create them, but I must admit I feel left behind, I can't get Bob to build for me when he is busy building for you! No hard feelings, friendly comment only, but true.

Being able to clearly see the beam over great distances is truly amazing. I'm assuming you can set the focal point to infinity correct?

Yeah!
To be sure to set the best focus over great distance, I use a monocular for bird watching like this:

https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B00K9SYPAE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

When I reach the best focused and small dot at great distance against a surface, I'm sure that I obtained the best focus available.

x Alaskan: this is a Sinner creation, not a CDBEAM one :na:

CDBEAM is a very busy man. And he is a perfectionist! However the delays are due to many other factors.
Usually I wait 6-8 months to see a project completed, You are not the ony one ... :na:

Yep, a Sinner host, I was looking at your other thread earlier today at the one Bob built for you, mixing builders :p Anyway, the sinner host is wonderful, the optics on the CDBEAM host outstanding too.

That's a very nice laser Minamoto.
Seeing these beam expanded hosts is making me want one too :D.

Have you ever tried to actually measure the divergence or have you just extrapolated it based of off the expansion factor and the initial divergence?

It'd be cool if you could either anodize the host black or polish the beam expander (likely not possible thought), than it would be a solid color.
I really like how the beam expander extension fits so well.

Congrats!

Gorgeous build, and that long beam shot was super clean too, very nice. :D

Seriously, I have to rate this 5 stars....I mean 5 Drools, it's so clean and we can see the impact dot. I would love to see a pic of this from the impact point end looking back at a night, a full moon night so all the landscape is visible. :D

Wow. That is incredible work. My bank said I shouldn't try this and to forget I ever saw it. Its what I imagined I would get from my first laser purchase a M-Type 445. Little did I know...how deep this water is.
