maybe because 593.5nm are very inefficient compare to 589nm..... cost more to produces+less profit margin.... And as we all know Companies prioritize profit before any other factors...

They're about the same efficiency and ease to generate, its just that the process that generates the 593.5 is more unstable at high temperatures. it is actually better than 588.6 at lower temperatures. and yes there is a notable color difference. the 593.5 is noticably more orange than 588.6. They're both very warm pretty colors though.

comparison at roughly equal powers:

I have noticed that 589nm looks more yellow during the day but has a orange tint when observed in darker environments. Just our eyes playing tricks when we switch to night vision. I personally prefer the sodium yellow output of 589nm, but then I haven't ever seen a 593.5nm in person.

That's how I saw 593.5nm

If that's what 589nm looked like to you, 593.5nm would look as an even darker orange at night :D

The difference in shade is marginal but it is noticeable. It is amazing how much 4.5nm changes the colour. A yellow and orange laser in one :)

So, I just ordered my Spartan from DL.

Do you guys think I should email them and talk up my DSLR camera, a power meter and a review on LPF to try to get a ringer, or is it not worth the effort?

Not worth it. Just let them know you have an LPM and will do a chargeback if the unit received isn't up to proper power requirements.

I just ordered a 473nm Aquarius myself haha :yh:

Aquariuses (Aquari'i? :undecided:) are great lasers! I've had mine for almost ten years now. This one is from the first batch of blue pulsed ones, after they stopped producing the crappy grey CW ones.

Nice. I ordered a spartan around a month ago and it's become my favorite star pointing laser. It has really tight divergence and puts out a fine beam of sparkling gold reaching out into the sky. What I notice is that it starts out pretty weak when the laser is cold, and then the output ramps up as the laser gets warm. At max power it will slowly melt into black plastic and pop balloons, although burning really isn't the appeal of something like this.

Wow, amazing! Do you still have the old box with "Aquarius" written on it? The ones they ship out now just say LaserGlow Technologies on them :(
