589 nm or 593.5 nm laser from Laser Glow?

Hey guys,

I want to take advantage of the sale laser glow is having at the moment to get myself a yellow laser. I have 4 options: The Rigel 6 or 10 or the Rigel HV 5 or 10. I am not sure what wavelength I will like more since I havent seen any of the two in person nor do I know how much power would be enough to see the beam at night. I am leaning towards the Rigel HV since it apparently looks brighter than its 593.5 nm brother. I'd rather not get the Rigel HV 10 unless there would be a difference big enough to justify the price difference. Let me know what you think.

593.5nm lasers are notorious for poor stability, I don't own one myself so I can't tell you my experience with them.

I do own a 589nm laser, and I can tell you that 4.5nm won't make much of a difference at all in terms of color or brightness.

Great! Should I get the Rigel HV 5 or 10? Will there be a significant increase in brightness between the two models?

You will be able to tell the difference, however it won't be much. Get whatever your budget allows!

I just bought the Rigel HV 10. I currently have mixed feelings about jumping in too fast, but worst case scenario I will just have to sell it at the same price I bought it for after the sale has ended. It is after all holiday season and this is my Christmas gift to myself hehe.

Ahh dang it...

I would have gone with a CNI portable unit taking a 18650 cell.

I have a Rigel HV pro 50 and it take's only a 3.0V cr123a cell, and i pritty much hate it on that part.. (so much that i'm willing to send it to someone that has the skill to transfer it into another host *any volenteers ?* i provide a host with it.

My next yellow would have to swallow a larger capacity cell for sure!

I'm sure you can get jayrob or mrcrouse to do it, both of them have worked for me and I don't have any complaints :beer:

I received my yellow laser today and I am really enjoying its color. My unit peaks at 22.1 mW and averages 17.1 mW, so it is on the upper end of its power range. However, I am still having a hard time justifying the cost of these pointers. I noticed what seems to be a thermal probe underneath the lens that gives me a small circle next to the dot. Are these lasers thermally regulated?

Get some beamshots up! Want to see how bright 17mw of this nm is!

Hmm. That is indeed weird. Im sure Laserglow would know the correct answer to that.
