still going. actually bought it huh? Yeah i've been inside these. the power supply is pretty big. I'd get something like that, but i'd have no place to put it. they're a pain to align, but not outrageous. I have a full set of crystals, but no mirrors for these. If I had mirrors then I'd make a 561 L-fold with some machinist's help on here. Too bad you don't live around here or I'd offer to help work on it, could make a video on it. I actually just finished a huge project of my own, and I can promise that it's epic.

H2O.... I don't have the document in hand yet, it is being sent to me in Alaska as the seller forgot to include the paperwork with the unit. However, I did blow up a photo he sent me of it and lo and behold..... ALIGNMENT WINDOW:

Edit: I replaced the low res photo I had with this high res photo I found buried in my emails. This photo can be expanded upon to see the writing much better than the resized forum resolution I get on my notebook display. This drawing does not show the integral wave plates on the output of the collimator and telescopes.

yeah, they're just clear windows to correct the axis of the beams to overlap them properly, as they are all fed into a fiber at the end for delivery. it is, as stated on the optics sheet, a retinal photocoagulator for eye surgery. they're used to treat AMD and some other stuff. the different wavelengths have different penetrating depths into the tissue.

Three wave windows didn't make any sense, my initial thought was they were for alignment purposes but then I started second guessing that. Thanks for the info on why the wavelengths, I was wondering why. I'm not supposed to be able to buy medical equipment, but to me, once it is taken out of the machine and just a component, or section of some equipment, it is no longer medical, it is just a laser. For example, a transistor or any other part, once removed and unable to be used for the application it was designed for, I do not see the equipment as being regulated after that. The letter of the law might have a different view, but if so, too stringent. This unit is far beyond being able to be used for eye surgery at this point, although could hit you in the eye

That is a helpful schematic. Looks like you are in good company so you should have no problem getting help on this Alaskan. Plus everyone will try their best to get it working, as they want to see it just as much as you.

Oh Wow! Now electronics is where I don't do so well.
I hope it isn't too difficult to get all of that working.

have worked as a component level electronics technician for many years before becoming a SATCOM engineer.

Both as a hobby and professionally, I was only interested in electronics until I saw the light. Now the rest takes a back seat.

I can understand why, so much involves electronics. But for me so much involves lasers.

I'm interested in the physics too, but whether radio where I have the most experience, or light, they are both EM waves. (gotta edit this: and.... also, particles, depending if you look or not).

I talked to a technician who works on lasers who is familiar with this unit and he said the 561 can safely do a full watt, the 532nm 5 watts and the 659 1.5 watts. I manly wanted this for the 561nm. I heard one of these sold on ebay for 12K a couple years ago, just this section with nothing else, but now, no one is biting except me.

1W at 561nm would be astonishing. Such a beautiful wavelength, close to the 555nm peak, and rare in those power levels. Also having a powerful DPSS red will also be astonishing.
