Hi Chris,
Try Will at laser 66 give him ago, he has something you might be able to use for 3.3mm.. He is still active i spoke with him yesterday.

Thanks brother of the collimated light :) I was looking on his web site earlier, will ask him.

Man, that is one tiny diode. How do you plan to press it? I know of some new modules at Existotem that can hold diodes without the need to press them. They have a back that screws on with four screws. A 3.8 mm one might hold that diode quite easily and could be TEC cooled as well.

I was looking at those, lasertack.com sells a no press block too. I want a Aixiz type module to fit in a pointer, but would consider any 3.3 mm diode mount/holder to heat sink a 100 mw (CW) 780 nm diode. I bought a 780 nm 100 mw assembled unit on ebay which takes a 5VDC corded power input to play with in the mean time. I am considering a 3.8 mm copper DTR module to just use Indium foil to fill the .5 mm difference, if I can get .25 mm thick foil.

Why 780 nm? I'm intrigued by the tiny emitter of some Sharp single mode diodes I have, bought a few on ebay for less than a dollar each. Lots of them listed right now, they were made for 40x CDROM, or read-write units, not sure.

edit: 780 nm is so close to vis it ought to be easier to see with a camera, atmosoheric loss is also very low at that wavelength, same as vis from what I'm finding through google. The tiny single mode emiiter allows extremely low collimated divergence too, for a given lens diameter.

The above listing says 200 mw, more China trickery, that's pulse.

I don't know about wrapping the diode in foil. It is likely to move when pressed, causing whatever utility you image to be lost. It is not the same as the diode's base so it can't take its place.

Edit: BTW, I won the bid on a tiny adjustable mount for dichros for $4.00. They normally sell for ~$6.00 and are very similar to the ones that company you like in Poland sells for much more. I think I will make a white RGB laser with them.

OK, well, I was hoping the rim of the 3.3 mm diode wouldn't fall through when using a 3.8 mm diode holder, maybe it would :(

I really like the RGB dichro whites, I bought that one Billy in Aussyland made.

These dichro mounts are brass and adjustable in three axes. If you decide to build one they are very inexpensive. That was the main reason I told you about them. :yh:

Thanks. I still cannot find 3.3 mm laser diode mounts. I don't know if they exist unless special order. Don't even know where to go to get them made.

Could be made on a lathe fairly easily, no? May be worth asking one of the members here that has a lathe.

I don't know what size of a hole to ask to be made, what the variation can be for the diode diameters etc., afraid to ask. I don't have my diodes in hand to look at them yet. There must be some standard sizing, 3.3 mm exactly or?

Measurements with tolerances are on the PDF you linked to in the first post. I'd imagine that'd be sufficient.

How do you do a Simpsons Doeh.... I didn't look for that, too interested in other data.
