Hi, all, I've found a 5000mW 450nm Blue Laser with $130.60 recently. I am thinking about buy it for I really like it and the price seems good for me. But one thing I am worry is that whether it is legal for me to buy a high power laser? How about the Custom? And what's the shipping way? I am a university student in US. Some one know much about that. :thanks:

Sorry, it is 5000mw laser not 1000mw.

Well the price is OK, but you can get better deals in the forum, no its illegal and customs will grab it it if they do a proper check when it comes into the country, if you you want it you have to play the chance game the rest of us play, provided its not called a laser and no batteries are with it, you probably have, 60/40 chance it will arrive that's in Australia in the US i believe your odds are better than that, or you could get it sent in two pieces a higher chance again of it arriving ..oh and welcome to the forum

I also do some research on alibaba.com and ebay.com, they need about $150~$200 and $180. I want to do some more research before I buy it.

As to it being 5000mw its 99.99999% that it will be only about 1000 mW ish not 5000mW not at that price no way ,I pretty sure only the bleeding edge of technology would you get a 5 watt 445nm bluelaser in a handheld type

No worries a lot of websites will over rate their lasers by a long way as its virtually no chance its putting out that much power especially as a handheld with only one 18650 battery .The better known manufacturers the real output power will be pretty close or even more than the specifications stated but you pay a lot more money .The old adage being... you get what you pay for holds true, but a 1000mW 445nm blue laser is most definitely not a toy and very high power as it is so if you do get it get red safety googles and be very careful using it, read the various welcome to the forum stickies! they will give you the basics you need to have fun and stay safe

Yep, u r right. I've go a round in the forum when I am on a theory class. So boring it is,,you know. Any way, find this forum is interesting. I like the laser, but it is the first time for me so I may have to think about it twice. My father may not support me if I tell him.

BTW the most power I have personally heard of from a single 445nm diode was 3700mW, which is crazy. to get more power in 445nm than that, you need to combine beams, aka knife edge. needless to say such a laser would cost many times the price you quoted, and I've never seen a laser company website that sells multi-diode knife edged handheld lasers.

don't get a laser without getting proper safety glasses. this is not optional, if you want to retain your vision.

Hi, guys. I'm here again. Yes, agree with you. May I ask what is multi-diode knife edged handheld laser? I've never seen that. Do you have a picutre for it. I'm interested in it if you do not mind upload a picture. Will be very appreciated.
