Hey all! got any yellow pointers? I'm interested in ALL prospects. I'm learning about SFG currently so I need as many as i can get my hands on. I'll also be posting my findings here as as I play around with them.

Got a dead one you want to sacrifice for science? I'll take it.
got one you might want to trade for a laser I have? might consider a trade.

That and I want a Rigel/GLP yellow for my presentations.
A PGL-III-C 593.5 or 589 would be highly desirable. (or such an equivalent like a vega)

I'm aware these are expensive and uncommon...but I'm a patient fellow.

I said any pointer. and I do mean any :)

but specifically I'm interested in <5mW pointers dead or alive.

naturally dead ones i wont give very much for, but they'd be more optimal to take apart since they already dont work, so nothing is lost per se. I do want a working yellow for my presentations at work however and GLPs are cheaper than laserglow's rigel (and are unmarked) despite being the same laser.

I'm also looking for a 20mW 593.5 (like a laserglow vega or similar) that i can use for a personal experiment, and obviously in future i'll grab a powerful 589. probably from a GB or something. got some projects i want to do with the PGLs and I know. Anything i find i'm going to post too. so if anyone has a dead one and wants to pick up a little cash then let me know.\

I need a 612 hene too but that's another story :D

anyone who has one of the above I'll consider both purchase and trade.

Alright haha, well If I had a spare one, I would gladly give you it, but as you can see I only have 650 and 635

That's ok! Gotta start somewhere! If you want a laser like no other, get yourself a basic helium neon. Gas is my favorite despite the cost. It also teaches you the fundamentals of how lasers work and they look darn cool! Maybe consider that your next journey after your anser. Just be safe and most important....have fun ! :D

I believe I just swept out the hobbyist market for 612nm HeNe's, I may have one or two for sale in a week or two

I've looked all over the place for any 612nm's and I've picked up all of the ones I've found so far :p

As long as they're not outrageously priced. :) I was going to buy one from mi but that's a bit too expensive. They're not worth that much.

I googled 612nm HeNe and found one for sale right off the bat.

:p

Plus I'm pretty confident sam has one or two sitting around...

edit: pricing... Beats me. I won't pay more than $300.

Probably no more than 600 For a new hard seal tube putting out around 3 mW

Honestly would depend on its condition, size, and output.

If you have one with decent output I have dibs on it first!

Edit: and yes Sam has a few aged ones, last I asked they were not for sale ATM tho

Wait I didn't find anything when I googled  Zraffleticket show me :p if you're referring to Meredith, I just cleaned them completely out :p

And yeah that's the same kind of pricing limit I'd say ultimatekaiser. I have one sitting on my desk right now, came in the mail today  I'll keep you on first dibs if I decide to sell one ;)

I wouldn't pay more than $150-200 if it's <2mW. If it's multiline, or 4mW+, then I'd pay more. Otherwise, I simply don't need to pay arm and leg to get a second 612.

Though if you don't have orange, and you haven't seen it, boy you don't know what you're missing!

Hard seal isn't too much of a worry for me. If it's a soft seal, or hard seal, all that matters is that it lases. If it's a softy, you could possibly even run it for several hours/days/weeks to try gettering the excess air.

Though there are a few ungetterable gases that you'd be stuck with.

Anyway, I'm not looking to get more orange for anything but dirt cheap.

Well sadly not everyone can get these at "dirt cheap" prices if they want to see brilliant orange :p but I understand where you're coming from

It is a lovely color, full of fire
