Hey I am interested in purchasing 4-5 PHR-803t sleds without the diode. I am planning on using the optics in a multi-color laser project. Does anyone have any reliable sources for stripped ones? or Does anyone have any diode-less ones they are willing to part with for a fair price?

Thanks

Or check out SenKat,he has a store Stonetek(just search stonetek). He seems to sell alot of diodes, and has many sleds left over.He offers many different quantities.

What are the power ratings on the red diodes in these sleds? Because at Stonetek you can get 50+ sleds for 17.99....so that is basically 50+ red diodes and 50+ IR diodes and enough optical equipment to clutter a room quite a bit....is this a good deal? If I am thread jacking I am sorry....it seems relevant though, but if it is poor etiquette correct me please.

You might just have to experiment with the Diodes, and if You have enough it would be easy to figure it out the current and MilliWatts out

So.....50+ sleds for 17.99 good deal? or is there a better deal for my first red diodes?

Might be depends on what speed they are, because Higher speed equals higher milliwatts. LightScribe drives are even higher output.

I'm not all that sure anymore, but i wouldn't think more than $40.00 or so. The technology has been out for awhile now.

Well as I am just starting out, I will probably go for these PHR sleds since I can get 50+ of them for half the price....that way a mess up isn't a huge issue....thank you for the great advice! gonna go by Altex tomorrow so fingers crossed!

PHR sleds don't have red diodes, the other diode in these sleds are IR.

The 6X blu-ray sleds (LG GGW-H20L) have a 16X LOC red diode.

Sorry Kevlar, I seem to be contradicting you a lot lately. I assure you it's not personal! However, the PHR does have a red in it. It's not powerful although some claim over 100mA pumped in, :undecided:, but I'm not sure about that. If you punch this - PHR Red/IR diode - into the search box you get loads of results discussing the combined Red/IR diode. I've had a play with them too and the only amendment I would make to the first post in the first thread that pops up is that the pin labelled, 'Photodiode', is also a ground pin.

@ udanis - I've made some enquiries for you but no response just yet. Let me know if you score some so I don't keep looking. Thanks.
