I know someone on the forum said they had two of these, but then went silent when I asked..

Years ago, my first diode laser (in the mid 90s) was a Coherent / Applied Laser Systems "pen" laser.

It was made of brass, coated with 'textured' black paint, and came in a sort of 'fake velvet' lined box.

It ran on two "N" cells, and was actuated by pressing the rather heavy brass "clip" which made contact with a filed down spot in the upper cap.

The upper cap housed the diode, and was shorter yet thicker than the battery-holding body of the rear of the laser.

Overall, it was probably the best built red 5mW I had ever seen; this was back when lasers like this were very rare.

I got it from Edmund Optics (then Edmund Scientific) in New Jersey.

Why am I looking for one - and why do I care about a 5mW red?

A few years ago, this laser was stolen from me. And I always wanted to replace it. Call it sentiment, I don't know, but it was kind of what got me into lasers years ago.

If anyone has one, is willing to sell it, or knows where to get one, please PM me...

Thanks.
