WTB HeNe

In the next few weeks I will be in the market for a HeNe (my first gas laser ) my price range won't be that high maybe around the $300 mark so hopefully I can get something for that, but I can probably pull some more money if need be. I have wanted a gas laser for some time but could never really get my head around the electronics of powering the bloody things up. I have no real preference on anything I just want a big gas laser

I am after a "plug & play" laser, so everything needed to get it to laze

Hopefully theres someone in Australia that has one they want to offload, if so please PM me or post here.

300$ is a large budget for a HeNe.

You can get a Red HeNe and a Green HeNe for your budget, great way to start off a HeNe collection
The red one is plug n' play I believe. You'll need a 12VDC power supply for the green.

Edit: Whoops I missed your location. The Red HeNe is 110VAC, it wont work in Aus. The green HeNe is still a good buy.

What do you mean by "big gas laser"?

As ArgLaser said, "regular" HeNe's are much less than $300
"Large" Hene's will get you up there, but shipping a 4 foot long package to Australia will get pretty expensive

For $300 you could get a small framed, air cooled, argon laser
However, once again, you wold probably be looking at >$100 in shipping cost

We could probably find a brick type PSU for the red that will work on 240V on eBay

By "big gas laser" I just mean something that isn't a diode laser, my thoughts ATM are the bigger the better, but I might go with a "regular" sized HeNe, as I might not be that into gas lasers and I might stuff it up. so I don't know going to have to wait and see.

I was hoping to avoid those kinds of postage costs and try to buy local but if I have to, I am going to have to suck it up and pay it.

I'm a bit nervous about the PSU's they are just so confusing to me, thats why I was wanting something "plug & play"

Thats pretty decent shipping, but I suspect your green HeNe will be gone by next week (when I have enough money for it) but I suppose I could shuffle a few things around to purchase it now, :undecided:
