Hi guys, im looking for a lens (Focusable with IR filter) for a Dragon Viper series, as one of my friends dropped his laser and broke the front off it lol... He managed to remove it ok, and now needs a new focusing lens and IR filter. He wants me to buy the thing for £30 (44.41usd) BUT without a lens its pretty useless to me. Let me know if you guys have one, or where i can get one without buying a NEW laser from DL and using that one lol. (PM me for fastest response). Heres what it looks like so far:

Cheers!

Oh really? Hmm, i emailed them last night and waiting on a reply, but the guy selling the laser told me they wouldnt give him a replacement / they dont sell replacements, and advised him to buy the cheapest one ($99usd) and use the lens from that... I put in my email to them im not paying $99usd for a freaking lens lol:D

I had a chat with online support, he said it may be hard to fit a new lens on the laser, but he wasnt sure. How hard is it? If its pretty simple then ill just ask to order one, although he did say i can send the laser in with free labor and just buy the parts...but that would take a while in shipping times and will cost more lol

well you have to take (break) the old lens of the aluminum focusing mount, clean off all old glue and anything else that may be left on there, then just glue on the new lens. Make sure its as centered as possible. Don't use super glue as it will fog up the lens, i use JB Weld, it looks just like the stuff they us. Just two little dabs on the edge of the lens will hold it right in place. Good Luck

Unscrew the lens mount and lens out of the housing

Break off the old lens if necessary and any remaining glue, put small dabs of JB Weld in the same places seen in the pic. Glue the IR filter on the opposite side in the same manner if needed (IR Filter recommended) Let dry.

Screw Back into the housing and focus as needed. When you get the focus down to what you like, place another tiny, i mean "tiny" dab of glue on the edge of the lens mount to meet the threads and lock the focus in place. An there you go. Lens, Mount and IR filter.

Ok dude, i managed to unscrew one of those metal ring things out of the gold "end" (2inch end that holds the lens) Now, behond the ring is a small glass looking square thing (check pic), if i hold this up to the light so i can see the bulb reflecting off it, its purple (The image of the light - check pic) Is this the IR filter? If so its placed between the two silver rings? Its glued on there so i think ill leave it as it is lol. Now, the lens just glues onto that silver thing i just removed, BUT how do i screw it back in? Theres two tiny holes in it which i used to unscrew it with a knife, but if theres a lens over the holes then im kinda..."screwed" LOL no pun intended   ::).
Also, when im screwing it back in, do i need to keep checking the laser to see if its in the right place? If so is it a fixed focus lens? OR can i move it somehow to focus the beam on the fly? If i can focus it on the fly, how do i do it? turn the black end?  lol Must be really stupid questions to u pros, but im still learning :p Cheers

oh you have two in there. one for the lens and one for the ir filter? Just leave the ir filter alone. If you look at my first pic you'll notice that the lens doesn't cover the holes its just the right size. I use needle tip tweezers to put the "ring" in, you can bend a paper clip to fit your needs. As for focusing, shine it on a black surface like 30ft away and try to get the smallest dot possible by screwing the "ring" with the lens on it up or down. this should give you decent divergence.

Oh right cool, so if i focus it to 30ft, how can i focus it to light a match 20cm away? Do i have to open it up and move the ring again? :D also how do i leave a +Rep, u have been more than helpful!

He said it was the 125mW Dragon Viper Series, so it should burn pretty nicely with a focused beam, just wondering how to do it lol

well if its 125mw all you need to do if focus it to a small dot at 30ft as i said. this should be close to an infinity focus. mine is about the size of a dime at 30ft. and i can light matches at 2ft and cut tape at 6!!the beam is thin enough that it will burn fine, that is if its 125mw. although if it was focused to a point of course i would burn better but its not necessary. But that "black part" back on the laser and leave it there, then just screw the lens back in and continue screwing it until you get the right size dot. OK?
