BTW a friend just got back from Amsterdam and gave me a flier of a laser lighter, guess what, I was a wicked laser! Or at least it had a signature of wicked lasers... I searched in the site but didn't find anything! If anyone wants to see the flier i can scan it tomorrow at work. And if anyone knows any more info about this can you please notify?

This is one of their new "green" products.

I have not seen it yet (waiting for the scan) but I had a VERY short conversation with Steve about it.

It would need to be dry "tobacco" dry to the point of being brittle. You will need around 500mW for this to work effectively. Your best/cheapest bet would be to use a violet laser or an IR.

I've found that "tabacco" (in quotes) is usually MUCH more "moist" than tobacco. It is also NOT usually as finely processed.

Big "wet" pieces are harder to light than small dry pieces.

yea its been a year or two for me, also my favorite shop is "Sybiria" just as the nick :)

@Dag u r right he is trying to promote eco-friendly image "saving the world one puff at a time" is the slogan. I will be home in about 2hrs so i will be uploading the image (btw i can upload it as an attachment right?)

But i have not understood how the lighter works exactly... i need a more detailed spec
(as igor dag and jayrob know i have been trying to make a laser lighter, so this might be a decent finished product in the end, unless they over price it as usual)

Incorporating the lazer-bowl combo into a single unique unit is indeed an interesting concept in the right direction.

Temperature control, so that it will remain in the vaporization range, would refine the concept.

Until then, I guess ye good ole Vapir will do its patriotic duty.

I think we could of guessed that by now LOL.

My friend gave me an old vaporizer to fix and I tried putting a laser in. The element cools off too quick when air is drawn through. So I guess maybe if you used a +500mW it might work, but it would not be cost effective. Maybe IR, but I dont want to mess with that.

Did you use the laser to heat a plate or a coil? or to directly vaporize the matter?
