Hi Everyone,

I'm looking to buy one or a multiple lasers to start off my collection (I'm new to the laser business). I'm looking for a 532 (with an IR filter) or a 445 with an output power of 150-250 mW. My budget is $200, and I want to spend it all on one or more lasers. I'll take care of the safety goggles separately, unless any of you have suggestions/offers.

Again, I'm new and looking to start off a collection with a few nice lasers (with some burning power :p). I've been lurking around the forum for a while and reading a ton, so I think I've done all I can for the safety part aside from actually buying anything (waiting until I know what wavelength I'm getting). I'd appreciate any help or offers!

Cheers,

Andrew

This post serves two purposes:

1. :bumpit:

2: Due to Paypal shenanigans that I'm trying to resolve, my budget has been reduced to $130. So, I'm revising my bid to one laser for $130 or under, 532nm or 445nm, 150-250 mW (IR filtered for 532 nm). Higher power is better!

Thanks,

Andrew

it would be hard to put together a 445nm laser for 130, nvm buy one complete. you can get greens easily for under that but not very powerful. if you dont mind red i would recommend it, you get 200mW red diodes very cheap (see o-like for a cheap 200mW red pointer). you can also get upto 200mW violet pointer for under that price too.

the only potential option at that price for 445nm would be to build from (almost) scratch with seperate components. an estimated guess at price, based on cheapest i know of:

35$ diode
30$ driver
~15$ host
10$18650 battery/s and charger
10$(usually a bit less) aixiz module. include a crappy lense
10$ 445 glass lense (can get from jayrob)
heatsink (not sure about price, is included in a jayrob kit but ofc that means paying slightly more for host since jayrob does some of the work for you)

taking into account shipping, its just about possible maybe, unless you need tools. a 445nm diode, however, will do a watt easily so its the best option for value/power ratio.

Thanks for the info Fonduman - I might try to put that together once I feel confident enough. Another update - Paypal tomfoolery was figured out, so my budget is back up to $200 (but I cant access the money for a little over a week because my card was frozen... mistake made by visa). Anyway, let me know if you are willing to sell or build anything for $200.

Thanks!

Thanks Babalimje! I hadn't noticed the huge price drop! After reading through the forums, though, I think I'm going to wait until the Arctics have gone out and the prices have been confirmed legit by multiple sources.

Check out www.optotronics.com, amazing product with top notch quality and service. The premium 150mW 532nm pen is great. The price fits within your budget, and everyone across this forum will speak to there reputation and quality. Based in Colorado, USA it ships quick. You will also receive the lasers average power included, so you know how it performs. Check out the review thread to see them in action.
