And the fleecing has begun :-X
Anyone who is jacking up the prices of lasers in Australia to take advantage of the current laws is despicable, period. just like those assholes worldwide that jack up the prices almost instantaneously on gasoline when they already have 4,000,00 gallons stored under the gas station. Freaking pathetic - and NO, I am NOT one of those opportunists that would do the same.

Simo - if Village idiot doesn't come through for one reason or another - you should consider a DIY. I think you are making a smart decision by not importing lasers when faced by a possible 100,000 fine, etc ! I don't think that is worth it for a TOY.

(no, Village idiot, I am not slamming your attempts at selling - unless you fall into that greed soaked category clearly stated above. )

If you don't want to sell your lasers, then don't - but don't jack the prices up to fleece fellow hobbyists - that is downright WRONG, and you know it. And if you don't know it, then you have major issues, and it won't matter what I say ;)

Oh no, please don't do that unless you're going to buy a regulating driver. Running the diode straight off batteries isn't good. Lavadrives are something like $20.

The Dorcy mod is easier too, and probably cheaper (maglites are pretty expensive in Oz in my experience, I just paid $25 for one, and that was on special :\). Also consider the MXDL mod. JayRob makes sweet heatsinks for the MXDL torch. All the parts will be about $40-$70 I reckon, considering shipping to Oz and stuff.

By all means do a DIY instead of buying a pre-made one though. I'm not desperately in need of selling my Dilda and you get a bit of experience under your belt. Win-win. :)

And Senkat: Yes, I am hiking up the price, because of supply and demand. Supply is effectively cut off, and demand goes up due to media hype. But it's not like I'm cornering him into a sale - there's other options which I'm offering him... so I'm not totally cruel and heartless right?

Hey i'm back - check my post here.

I'm more than happy to build a basic 200mw red from parts. I'm in Adelaide.
I do realise my reputation long ago went down the toilet - so if you accept, you only pay postage until it arrives - and not even that until the build is complete.

I only have parts at the moment for a labby / box style; but the diode is an open can capable of 350mw+ and the lens is a dual element glass Aixiz.
I do NOT currently have the ability to match the form factor of the Dilda - nor the host. The labby box I've got lying around is a 6cmx5cmx10cm diecast aluminium one, and offers great runtime due to excellent heatsinking ability, but I could easily get a smaller box.

Regarding price; I can't match DX, but in terms of $/mW I can come close. The build cost would be under $90 - and that would go towards fellow forumers' refunds. Postage would be around $10 for regular or $20 for express. AUD.

BF - I suggest you get into cahoots with a fellow Aussie - and use that trusted member as a permanent middleman for Aussie deals, and after you have proven yourself to the satisfaction (it will take a while) of the masses, it will be easier.

Are you selling or buying? WTB stands for 'Want To Buy'.

Anyways, I'm happy to act as middleman for all BlueFusion deals ;D

Cybob paid you for an open can box-style burner a few months ago BlueFusion and still hasn't got a refund or his laser. You should be working on paying him back before raking in more customers.
