Replied to Byrnz93 by PR.

I felt like asking the $125 bidder how much time it would take him to assemble the parts.

If anyone wishes to build one for me, please reply here publicly. Thank you.

Power is energy/time, keep in mind that 5mW focused to a pinpoint is more "density" than 200mW focused on a 1 cm dot, you get me? You are looking to get 5mW of power over a specific surface, if you unfocus a 200mW one you can get the same power density in your skin.

Also, if you still don't want to believe me, you can always get a filter, like a soldering gogglesand use them to reduce the power.

Trust me that this is the best way to do it. Also, I doubt that skin can really filter light for it's power or polaritzation, although I've never read nothing about this so if your source is reliable just ignore me ;)

Yours,
Albert

The 200mw should be the best solution if you want to cover the most area in a given amount of time. If you are only looking to tagret a pinpoint though, someone could easily build you a 5mw pointer. I would offer to build it, but unlike most forum members, I don't have the parts in hand so it would take me significantly longer. I agree with byrnz and stark, $125 is a rediculous price...

Very true, I take back my description as "rediculous".
A more fair statement would be that I think people would be willing to make one for less.
Thanks for pointing that out abadcaffeinetrip

I don't think Seller's price is out of line. There are several ways to price a product. Everyone here is assuming hat the price should be close to the price of the individual components.

The Seller is pricing based on the value of the product. The OP doesn't have the tools or the knowledge to build one. The Seller does. His knowledge is worth something and I don't see anything wrong in him quoting a price that he thinks is fair. If the buyer doesn't agree to it, then the market doesn't support his price. He didn't try to con anyone, he just quoted a price.

You are correct ther are people who will build him one for less money, but then he will have less of a laser also ! I do nothing but quality builds that you can give to your grandchilderen just because something only puts out 5mW do you think it is any easer to build ? I still have to turn metal on the lathe and and order the parts and put it all together with a little pride. how many of you out there that are here commenting in this thread actuly build lasers ? come on speak up don't be shy now you had something to say earler. you go play with your cheep lasers and when they break next week get em fixed at dark's he dose it for $10.00 LOL

Pece All...

I applogize Flamin, I didn't take into account that you were making a complex build that involved turning parts. All we had to base our comments off of was Greg's price quote. If you are putting a high quality build together then there is no doubt in my mind that your quote was fair. I do build lasers myself, but am rather new to it so I also have no doubt that yours are far superior in quality.

Peace

THANK YOU bikrdude, I was gong to build him a very nice laser with a led indactor light so he could see when it was turned on and a side clickie sw in a heavy aluminum host so it would give him long trouble free service and rechrgable batteries and a charger, but maby there is someone who was making comments earler in this thread that could do better than me I will surly step aside and let them have a go at it...

Peace out....
