I purchased the Survival Laser 445nm parts bundle with all of the copper upgrades in December 2011 to help eliminate some pests in my saltwater fish tank. The laser worked perfectly and was a lot of fun to watch them burn but I just had too many to eliminate and not enough time. I ended up finding a natural predator to eat them and so I no longer have a use for the laser.

I have 3 charge cycles on the batteries and probably about an hours use on the laser. Everything pictured below is included and will be shipped USPS priority mail with insurance and a signature required. I really have no idea what this should sell for so I'm thinking I will start by asking $260 paid through PayPal. This includes shipping, insurance, and PayPal fees. If this is unreasonable please send me an offer. As I said I'm not sure what it's worth.

I'm sure some of you have noticed that I just joined the forums today and this will be my first post. I know this looks a little shady but I ask that you please check my 100% feedback on eBay under the same user id and you will see I'm no stranger to selling online.

If you haven't already, You might consider listing this for sale on ReefCentral as well. I've gotten many requests from fellow aquarists looking for lasers for controlling marine pests.

Good luck with your sale.

You could probably get about $280-290 for that, if the host and everything is in perfect condition :)

This reeks of a scam.

I changed the pictures so they include my user id as was suggested.

CalmSeasQuest - I'm hesitant to sell this on there because I don't feel it's a very effective method of controlling Aiptasia. It takes 1-2 minutes per Aiptasia and even then they often grow back. After roasting several only to see them come back a few days later we decided to see what else was available. We ended up going with Berghia Nudibranches. We purchased 5 of them for our 120 gallon reef and within 6 weeks all signs of Aiptasia are gone.

I'm also considering selling this on eBay. Can anyone tell me if there are any policies or maybe laws against this?

You cannot sell ti on Ebay, anything rated over 5 mw is against the rules.
Looks better now that there are pics with your member name and date, you learn quick.

Laser pointers over 5mW are not allowed on eBay

That being said, they are sold there all the time

The only problem is if someone from eBay notices it, they take down the auction

Many people get around the restriction by not listing the output, but describing it "creatively"

I was pretty sure eBay would have something against it. I just figure it's not going to sell here. Tech_Junkie has labeled me as a scam and if I was looking to buy here his opinion would carry some weight given his rep and post count. No hard feelings though. It was expected.

I've had a few pm me and tell me I should be asking more for this but I just don't feel right raising my price. I listed it for $260 so that is where I will leave it. That just means my price if firm.

I never labeled you a scammer. Just gave people a heads up to what I observed, and recommended not to buy it. Your thread had many marks of a possible scam, and there is no solid proof its not.

I'd put it up on eBay. List it as "high power" "445nm" "Laser" "Survivallaser"

You are probably going to have a hard time selling a 1.1-1.3 W 445 for $260 on here, a very similar laser can be built for a little over $100. Ebay or lower your price is your best bet, but then again you never know who would be buying it...
