i have a 405 nm blu ray in this pailide host it is a 6x with flexdrive4 and has a 405g1, it runs on 1 14500 900mah ultrafire rechargeable battery
i have no meter so it has never been officially metered
I have had it for a year and if I had to put a total number of use time I would estimate it at 2 hours total of runtime. I work very long hours and never realy play with it.
I would greatly appreciate it if someone could please give me an honest appraisal for this portable laser. If someone is interested I am trying to build a 445 close to 1 watt, I had ordered the Artic, but then decided to try to DIY myself.
This would be my prefered route: to try to trade some DIY parts for the 445
I know that my 405 is a little outdated so i know I might need to add more cash plus my laser to get to what I want. But like I said first i need an appraisal to what it is worth today.
i would like to get a complete 445 DIY project: including host, diode, driver, heatsink, battery, and preferabally I would also like the same 405

Thank you, for your time
BTW i bought this kit from what I believe is a trusted member here.

What does that mean? (above) "the same 405"
I think the parts to build a ~1W 445nm should be less than $200, probably close to $150-$175.
I'm not sure what your 6x 405 is worth, as you don't have info on power setting and/or output.
I could safely say that it's worth a little more than $150, but many members here can build one with a 6x for less than that.
I will offer you $100 for it, but without knowing the power output, I couldn't offer any more. :cryyy:

Since you have no idea of the mW power rating on this 6x, why don't you maybe contact the person that you purchased it from and ask them for a little power info help ! Also maybe ask the seller if you can use their name in reference to this laser. Just to show who and where YOU bought it from. If that doesn't help you , try to get it tested somewhere on a LPM.

You can DIY a 445 fairly cheap (relatively speaking). Especially if you go with one of Jayrobs kits. You can even have him install the driver as well. All you would need to do is solder the diode in place, and it would be ready to go.

Here is an example kit (nice host for a 445 IMO). http://laserpointerforums.com/f64/fs-18650-build-kit-easy-assembly-445nm-blu-ray-red-43857.html

The basic kit (host and heatsink) is $41. Buy yourself a flexdrive ($23) and a diode (~$50). Comes out to about $114 (plus any extra for shipping thus items).

So basically, lets say $130 (after estimated shipping costs of those items) will get you all the necessary items to build a 1 watt 445nm laser.

Also if you were Ok with less than 500mW of power, you could always try HighTechDealZ - High Tech DealZ (run by a trusted member here). He sells the 445 diode pressed in a AixiZ module with a rkcstr driver soldered on, and current set by default of 440mA (max current for a rkcstr) for $97 and free ship.

Then all you would need after getting that is a host that would fit a full AixiZ module. (the Jayrob host/heatsink kit linked above should work with a full AixiZ module).
