Ok so I have an almost brand new iPhone 3GS 16gb in white. I lost it and had to report it lost in order to get a replacement. It works completely fine but is barred across all networks here in the uk.

It will however work in any other country and so I'm wondering if anyone would like to offer me a trade for it.

Ideally I'd like a powerful blue laser but I'm open to offers

Just wondering though how we can set up a swap so neither of us gets ripped off. Ie I send phone but don't receive laser and vice verser

If anyone has any interest please let me know. I'm in London uk. (if someone is visiting London or is even in the uk that wants to do a swap even cooler as we can meet up

Thanks for reading.

Bumblebee that's about the jist of it. I'm posting from it now. It's on 4.0.1 os and is jailbroken. Iv still got the box somewhere but the charger wire is knackered. Tbh not being greedy but I'm told those guidesman are quite cheap to make. However iv just busted my 100mw green laser so stuck with my crappy 5 mw green and 5mw blue

I figure I can't use the phone anyway although eBay I think I could probably get 150£ for it at least. I'm certainly interested in a trade but kinda wanting a bit more.

Plus of course there is the worry of being ripped off as I stated earlier.

Can you also throw in some glasses and perhaps a decent green also? Or a decent red. If so I'm happy to do a trade.

Oh. I'll also require verything needed to run it. Ie charger. Battery etc. happy to use a middle man if needed. Not overly bothered. I'm stuck with hardware I can't use. You have something you are happy to trade. So hopefully we can both be happy before Xmas ??

Re: Trade iPhone 3GS whiite 16gb. Barred uk

I would be very cautious of dealing with a brand new member who only joined today on something like this.
It could be a fake iphone and it most certainly is stolen as he said he reported it lost.
So either it was stolen by him from someone else and he's claiming to be the person who lost the phone or he reported it stolen to get it replaced...either way he is not honest and it no longer belongs to him since he got his replacement.

Anyone who would deal with this kind of person deserves to ripped off.

For future reference, if anyone does try to buy an iphone online from a private individual, beware of fakes.

I copied the following from a quick google search on fake iphones and how to tell if they are fake and or reported lost or stolen.
-----------------------------------------

The best way to tell BEFORE you buy is to ask for a serial number. Apple provides a way to check the warranty of each phone based off of the serial number. Simply go to Apple.com and enter your information at the link.

New iPhones will all still be under warranty. If there is no warranty the phone is either a year old (thus not a 3GS), stolen or is a fake!

Another good number to check is the IMEI or International Mobile Equipment Identity number. The IMEI number is used by the GSM network to identify valid devices and therefore can be used to stop a stolen phone from accessing the network. For example, if a cell phone is stolen, the owner can call his or her network provider and instruct them to "ban" the phone using its IMEI number. This renders the phone useless, whether or not the phone's SIM is changed.

This way you can tell before you even make the purchase whether or not the iPhone is authentic. If a seller will not provide you with this information, get cautious. It may be they have a large stock and large demand and cannot guarantee that particular phone will go to you. But at the very least they should be able to provide multiple serial numbers of some product to prove they aren't trying to sell fake iPhones.

You reported it lost then found it again without reporting that. So selling it will make it become stolen goods. So if the police search you and check the serial number/IMEI number of the phone you will be arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.

To be very clear about this as it seems the above posters have already made their minds up.

I did not report the phone stolen. I reported it lost. This was also more than a year ago (July 10) I received a replacement and then found the phone. Legally it would belong to the insurance company who were not interested in taking the handset back ( I did call ).

While it is admirable you guys looking out for others it's also a bit crappy accusing me of being a thief I'm 37 years old lol and run a business lol.

Also in reply to the post second up from here. Yes. You are correct. All phones have an imei number. Here in the uk a phone that is lost or stolen is immediately blocked across all networks. It is supposed to deter phone theft.

I am not going up get into an argument in my first ever thread here but I would ask that people do not point fingers.

I think i have been totally honest from the very first post.

And just to confirm. Yes. While a phone blacklisted in the Uk will no longer work in the uk. It will however work outside of the uk.

I recently took the handset too Turkey on holiday and used a payg sim inside it.

A warmly accept that you guys are protective of your members but please. No need to be so harsh At the end of the day if my insurance company doesn't want fhd phone back does that fact make me a thief??? Jeez.

Did you guys even read the OP. I still have the box. I'm happy for the serial number to be checked. I am as worried about being ripped off as anyone.

Ps. I am writing this from an iPhone 4s apple do not even make the 3GS any more. Not that that's relevant but i thought I'd add that anyway.

Please check google more in depth you will see that although (as I have stated) the phone is barred here in the uk. It will work with no problems abroad. Ps. It was also unlocked to begin with and so will take any sim in any country.

Please refrain from calling me a thief as I am not.

At the end of the day I can always give it to one of the kids to use as an iPod it's really not a big deal. I am however offended by the comments above though.

At the end of the day my view is this. It's an iPod to me or a phone to someone else. Really if I keep it or trade it I was just taking a punt.

I may have not bothered if I had known it was going to cause such a fuss.

I also checked his spelling and grammer. I have learnt several things about nigerian scammers so far.

- Bad Grammer/Spelling
- Will do anything to convince you
- Who wants to know how old you are and if you run a buisness? Doesn't mean shit.
- Not posting images of the item itself. ( Probs will post a fake image now )

I myself almost got scammed by one of those people. Luckily my family member picked out the false emails ""Paypal"" sent me.

I'm just warning people about the dangers.

Please be curious guys!!
