Re: Teenie Burner $45 **SOLD**  More soon!

I have a question. If red diodes need 3v, and the three 1.5 batteries make 4.5v, won't that damage the diode no matter how much current goes through it?

Thanks

I bought mine as a birthday "gift," for Kenom, but I'm the one who got the present :)

I use a single 10180 in mine. It is freakin' awesome. It puts out 185mW from a truly pocket sized host

I've already had to recharge the battery once and I'm NOT a "burner" I light it just to be amazed again by the unreal amount of light coming from this tiny host.

Peace,

Yeah i might buy one soon, but the voltage thing holds me back a little. It is probably a simple misunderstanding on my account though. ::)

Re: Teenie Burner $45 **SOLD**  More soon!

Voltage is irrelevant.  current is what's important.  the diode is only going to pull the voltage it needs but the current has to be either regulated or a small amount.  This is accomplished with the batteries.  Since they are so small, they don't have much current.

When I first popped that 10180 battery into it, I truly expected it to die! but when it didn't and I saw over 200mw, it blew my freakin mind!!!

Will the laser last long with the 10180 in it? couldn't it die?

I honestly don't know. I havn't managed to test the current that is being pumped from this little battery. What I do know is that it is possible to on a fresh charge but you'd have to ask daguin about it since he's actually put a fresh 10180 into his.

Anything COULD die. It pulls just over 190mA with a freshly charged 10180. The spot even shows the "line" through the dot of high powered reds!

When the battery sags to 3V the laser goes dark. It actually drains the battery fairly quickly, but they recharge quickly as well. I do what I normally do. I have two batteries for it. While I'm charging one, I'm using the other.

Peace,
dave

where do i get the batteries for this?

The button batteries (LR-44) can be found at many places that carry button batteries.  They are used in many "normal" applications.

The 10180's must be bought online.  Here's one source:

http://www.lighthound.com/AW-10180-Unprotected-Rechargeable-Lithium-Battery_p_20-92.html

I recharge them in the same charger that I use for the rest of my 3.7V batteries.  I just use a series of rare earth magnets as spacers to make the connection.

Peace,
dave
