Re: SwimminSurfer256's NEW Overspec/Super Overspec 5mW Greenie Shop *IN STOCK*

Alright they came in today!

Averages tested over 20 lasers of each type:
"Kinda overspec": 34.4mW AVERAGE
"Super overspec": 69.3mW AVERAGE

My supplier was kind enough to mark labels for the higher powered ones as <100mW so I can distinguish between the two ;) If you don't want the label let me know in the PayPal note!

They're super cheap and once you rack up a collection of like 10 of them you'll be able to make a fan ;) I'm just curious to see if your luck holds up... ;)

Everyone who has purchased thus far's shipment has been sent out!

Payment sent for super over spec 5mw 532nm pen;)
I'm assuming these look like the ones you had last time? The ever so typical newwish style laser pens?

I'm Kinda excited about doing this random grab bag idea your using, sounds fun:)

Funny you should say that. Got the laser today, and me being me, did a bit of testing with it.

Here are the results:

On 10440 and spacer:

Peak: 57mW, Stable: 50mW,
Peak: 60mW, Stable: 52mW,
peak: 57mW, Stable: 51mW,

On fresh Rayovac AAA's

Peak 56mW, Stable 50mW
peak 55mW, Stable 50mW

IR content of ~10mW - based off of 4 tests specifically for IR since I wanted to test the efficacy of using goggles to block 532nm, vs an IR filter which is a pain in the @$$ to setup on the laser. (No difference at all surprisingly.)

One of the three 10440 tests was done with a not fully charged battery, the other two with freshly charged battery.

All test the laser was allowed to run for 1 minute, and to rest at least two minutes in between.

Pro's
-Relatively low IR content for a cheap pen ~20%.
-Seems to work about equally well with spacer and 10440 as it does with AAA's.
-Does not warm up super fast, I would feel comfortable running it for about 90 seconds.

Con's
-On the low end, below the grab bag average, my luck ran out:(
-Beam comes out at somewhat of an angle, this is par for the course with cheaper lasers, but still a con imo.
-A little bit heavier and shorter than previous version (not sure if this is a con?).

Overall impression:

For $19 it's not a bad deal, since it does put out >40mW of pure green.

Off topic, while at it, since I usually don't play with IR filters, I tested the overspec green pen from a previous batch. Peak of 66mW, and stable at ~60mW, IR content was a tad higher, running around 17mW.

Darn! Knew your luck would run out eventually... After getting that 70mW regular overspec **jackpot** I figured it would only be a matter of time ;) 50mW was the low end of the more overspec bunch. Highest one I saw out of the ones I tested I think was around 92mW.

The difference in size is because I had my supplier switch to a "newer," slightly more expensive version in this round. These lasers are on average more stable than the previous ones. Con?? I think not!!

Re: SwimminSurfer256's NEW Overspec/Super Overspec 5mW Greenie Shop *IN STOCK*

Actually, just using my eyes, the regular overspec seems a tad brighter, although I doubt I would be able to tell the difference without seeing them literally side by side.

It really isn't a bad deal, but I guess that 70mW pen raised my expectations a bit too high.

As for luck... remember how I said I thought I lost this pen? I didn't. Instead I lost a a 290mW 660nm. Both were missing, I guess I should consider myself lucky that at least one did end up being in the car.
