Sony Optiarc 20X laser diode

So, I purchased a Sony Optiarc 20X DVD+/-RW DL drive from Newegg.com, thinking it should have a normal, round diode.  I was wrong.  It has an awkward square-like shape.  If you're interested in a weird diode, I'm willing to sell or trade this diode, for $24 (what I paid for the drive) or to trade for another 20X diode.  See pictures below.  If you would like, I'm willing to throw in the CD ciode at no extra cost. I'd recommend a diode like this if you're gung-ho for the unconventional, if you're interested in trying something new, or if you just feel like helping out a poor soul like me =D (Who just didn't know what the diode would be like.)

Here's a picture from the pin side.

Here's one at an angle favoring the side opposite the pins

Here's the under-side. Presumably, the metal plate is to draw heat away from the diode.

This is it compared to a normal, 5.6mm diode. Across the metal plate, which sightly sticks out from the black part, it's about 5.15mm. Very small.

Here's a little video to show how bright it is. Current running through it is between 400mA and 450mA. I'm unable to focus/collimate it, because I only have 2 hands, but It's very bright, especially compared to a standard, Class IIIa laser pointer.

The first laser is the weak standard leadlight. The second one with the 2 big things coming off of it is the Sony diode. At the end, when it sill looks a bit brighter, it's pointing almost straight down, and the leadlight is pointing almost straight at the lens.

I don't know, but it's this drive.  I could Jerry-rig something, but I don't want to have to mess with it.  It'd be that much more work to make it work SOMEhow.
