LOC laser from an LG 22x burner from newegg (harvested by me), using a rkcstr microdrive set at 420mA inside a coleman max LED (sanded down to look badass), powered by 2xCR2 batteries.

Hello. i decided to try and sell this so i can build a new one, i'm basicly just selling it for enough to fund the purchase of the new parts. there are a few pros & cons to this laser, so read carefully...

diode is a LOC from an LG 22x from newegg.com, harvested it myself (about 5 days ago)
driver is rkcstr micro drive set at 420 mA, assembled myself also (also 5 days old)
the host is a coleman max LED flashlight (the one that take 2xCR2 batteries)

here are the cons to it.....
i did not have a new aixiz module on hand when i built this, so i used an old one
so the lens is not as clear as i'd like, and the threads are wearing down causing it to slip.
...so it would be nice if you have an extra lens you can jsut screw into it.

also, it take 2xCR2 batteries, which i jsut ran down so i can't include batteries wth it

on a positive note though, DX finally shipped my order yesterday so i will be getting some rechargable CR2 batteries, and will be willing to give 2 of them free of charge as soon as i get them.
it doesn't have a "custom machined" heatsink in it, just a half assed heatsink i made for it, which seems to work just fine for it.

also the diode driver and the + and - contacts are all contained in the aixiz module which i think makes for a very stable design (it would take alot of work to break this thing).
(i have to help a friend move a washer, i'll post more about it in about an hour. here are some pics)

EDIT: i'll throw in this PHR-803t diode in an aixiz module with fixed rkcstr driver, curently set at 170mA, and working, i can also lower it back down for you if you wish before i ship it.

Re: FS: RED laser asking $70

I would not reccomend putting in "Half Assed Heatsink" If you want people to buy it.

I'd say more like "heatsink needs improvement"

every heatsink needs improvement.....unless it's made from diamond.

if i recall diamonds(carbon) isnt a good conductor =P but then again i dunt no, u could get one machined, i just got mine machined out of scrap silicon bronze at my near by engine shop for like 10 bucks =P aldo im not trying to preach

Re: FS: RED laser asking $70

diamond is 5-10 times as thermally conductive as aluminum
and somthin tells me if u can afford the diamond the machine work will not be a challenge to get done

Diamond would not be easy at all to machine. You would probably pay more for the machine work then you did for the diamond. You can't just slap it on a lathe and get busy.

Re: FS: RED laser asking $70

Though it may be deduced from the diode type and current applied I would still like to know the output of this laser if it is known.

i don't have a laser meter.

i know it's set for 420 mA because it's using a fixed output driver with the setup on line 37 on http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=pW49OuYfRMm4-k6TaQk0BZw&hl=en
i think it showed as 419mA when i tested it with a dummy load.
but according to dr.lava's diode roundup we can prob assume it's somewhere between 250 and 300mw

READ UP TOP AGAIN ( i'm throwing in a little incentive.)
