I guess it is also a higher wavelength then (~410nm). Congrats ;)

:thanks:

When playing around with it more, it's a little less bright than a 50mW green I have... so it's nothing too amazing in terms of WOW bright beam, but I was just amazed that it produced a beam at all, and fairly decent one. Since it's purple it's very cool as well.

The light reflection from the dot acts as essentially a blacklight, which is also an interesting effect I haven't noticed with my 445's.

Lastly... it did burn a couple of tiny spots on my white ceiling...

@steviedezie - I can't wait to see what you cook up next. Btw, thanks for the little gift, I gave it to my 6 year old cousin and he loves it. (I was/am a bit of a flashaholic as well, so I carry a flashlight with me all the time already.)

I was first into the laser hobby, but then I started the flashlight hobby not too long ago and I'll tell you both are amazing although flashlights have been more useful since I am a mechanic and i also do freelance IT work...small bright lights have been very helpful in those jobs... and both hobbies have been very costly on my wallet.

to be honest i have more fun building lasers than actually playing with them, so im always looking for new things to build. I have a set limit of 6 lasers...any more that I build I sell, just so i dont get swamped with too many lasers. flashlights though...oh man, i got 4 xm-l's, 2 p7's, LOTS of xp-g's and a SST-50 direct drive maglite project in the works... the maglite is gonna be my flagship light...1200 lumesn...thats gonna wreck havoc...

Im just looking for a good host to house a sst-90 that i've been meaning to buy...it seems the only hosts that can handle that are maglites or the ultrafire c88 flashlights. But then theres the heatsinking issue...plus i havent found any driver that can supply the 5A a sst-90 will need.

Nice! You're more of a flashaholic than I am that's for sure. I kind of got into flashlight because I wanted a decent light, and once I started experimenting with drop ins for 6P that was it.

1200 lumnes... that's gonna be a beast, careful not to tan anyone with it:eg: Personally for my edc I use cheap Saik light, haven't had one fail on me yet, but I'm not sorry to let it go if I lose one. They are overpriced, but when it comes to camping, or a situation where I want a light that will absolutely not die I've stuck to the surefires.

...and in other local news, the mysterious Bat signal once again appeared over a small california town. Authorities are at a loss to explain it, but stress that vigilantes are criminals.
:crackup::crackup::crackup:

I made a Z cutout from some very thin metal for my light for a party once. Everything kept asking me why I liked zorro so much:banghead:
