Re: FS: Ophir Sensor

So this would be able to be used right out of the box with just a volt meter and no calibration from 20mw to 5W?

Re: FS: Ophir Sensor

Yep, that looks the same!

Okay, I'll sell mine for $190 shipped.

And if Ebay is a decent place to sell these, I'll probably just pop this up there this weekend unless someone grabs it here first.

Jerry: To get 20W readings, wouldn't you also need a higher voltage dual rail power supply?

Yes you do need a higher voltage into the sensor to read higher.. as well as having a heatsink. I bought one for this purpose but never got around to using it. Peak voltage the sensor can handle is 18V

No you need to power it with a dual output PSU. A computer PSU can do the trick if you have the means of modifying it a little. Once you have the psu, yes you can just hook it to a voltmeter.

I'll be find with power supplies, what does the sensor require for input voltage?

I also have some psu's that can be plugged into a wall and provide both the voltages you need. Think I have 2 left. $cheap

Re: FS: Ophir Sensor

Whoever purchases this, I can build a Kenometer USB, or a Kenometer Pro to go with this sensor for a relatively low price. Just adding value to the sensor for your sale.

Yup, I think Kenom offered to build one for cheap.

Just wondering, what happens if the two input volts are slightly different?
ie) 9V and 12V
Just curious. Cheers!

Re: FS: Ophir Sensor

If you were going to use wall adapters I am sure they need to be the same. There was something else about them that was important. Something to do with they way they output they have to be conected together so. Eh I cant remember. I just remember that some adapters wont work for some reason. Maybe someone else can jump in on that one.

I have been looking for another way to power them too. 9V batteries are expensive and they only last a couple day's if you leave it on.

Re: FS: Ophir Sensor

If the inputs are different, you will blow the Opamps. Considering the price of the unit, it's better safe than sorry.

I don't want to clog up your thread rhd, or derail it. My offer to build an accompanying meter has resulted in a lot of folks interested in your sensor, so I'd like to let folks know how much it will cost for the perspective units.

USB with all required cabling $100 shipped
Pro with all required cabling and batteries/charger, $250

I'll also sell the parts required to build said meters for $25 off the usb, and $75 off the pro with instructions on how to build everything.

Re: FS: Ophir Sensor

Pending a reply - and some details on shipping - I think the sensor may be sold.

Re: FS: Ophir Sensor

I just received some information from Ophir about this sensor including how to calibrate them.

I've also gotten the price on a new board inside the sensor if anyone's sensor ever goes bad, I can get a new one. I'd have to say it's not that expensive either. $150

Eeek, that strikes me as *really* expensive. $150 for just the replacement board, when these are selling for $195 as total units?

At any rate, this is sold.

Uh, no if you buy it directly from Ophir, this sensor is $450

Right.. But none of us would be comparing $150 to repair versus $450 to buy new from Ophir. We'd compare repair versus Ebay $190 models.
