Re: NUBM06 diode copper and aluminum host

He is just taking a break from volume builds from my talking to him.
Those are quite the units and having full control is what makes them especially beautiful with the screens. There's a ton of vapes out there with a screen, monitoring and adjustability so why not our stuff.
I would like to see that top pic with all copper even though it would weigh significantly more. I need to look up the best way to keep a full copper build continue to look Shiney without having to keep buffing it up but the problem is it is a convertible unit and I'm not sure what to do. Yeah, it's a bit off topic but all that copper caught my eye. Here's what I mean by convertible:

Yes, +6 for some fabulous work.

I want to see the wood one you mentioned;)

That is one thing I don't like about copper. I've tried using a clear lacquer but it doesn't really work to we'll on a polished surface. My next copper hosts will be electroplated with some type of metal. Silver or nickel maybe chrome if that works on copper. But definitely not bare copper. It's a great conductor of heat but it's also a dirty metal.

I can just imagine all that nubm06 power focused through a 3 element into a tight beam like you have it set up, please let me know when you get some more in, I want to do some more builds with this diode.

I still have 7x of them. But only one has the Gball still on it.

Re: NUBM06 diode copper and aluminum host

The Gball has a long focal length and makes that big wide beam you see in my vid clip that still kicks out mad power, a 3 element or G2 would be great because of the shorter focal length the beam can be focused needle thin in the desktop range. :eg:

I plan to do Cyl shaping and a beam expander with the unit I have keeping the Gball intact just to have one to compare, I know if I took the Gball off and used a conventional lens the beam would be a lot tighter and also tighter after the Cyl shaping but I just want to do it to compare and.... well I'm stubborn.

I would like to do another 06 with the Gball off and use a 3 element or G7.

I will PM you.

Hi,
After i buff to a high luster there fine when left protected in a case. Then when i take them out to lose after that i use a Jeweler rag one side is rouge and the of side polishes . Works great and won't tarnish as much

So far I've taken it up 4.4amps with the Gball lens and I hit 7.22 max on my meter. I'll keep going till I hit the fold back point.

7.55 watts is the peak I've hit so far with the driver I'm using only putting out a little over 4.5 amps. It shot up to 7.55 pretty quick I think this diode is capable of close to 8 watts. I will try it with another driver I have and show my results.

What lens were you using?

Stock Gball lens. I don't have any G2 lenses right now. I just hit 7.66 watts at 4.5 amps. What's do you think the difference between the two types of lenses would be?

Minimal as far as LPM readings, they are both designed to pass most the power, the G2 is a shorter focal length, the Gball is a longer focal length but has a wide enough rear opening and a concave dimple, I want to see the output with a 3 element, G2 and G7, I suspect it will be tighter.

That's all I've been using is the three element with the 06 and it's pretty good. I don't really like using the G2 the 3 element are cheap and are good all around.

Re: NUBM06 diode copper and aluminum host

Yes the 3 element is a better all around lens, but for using my 6x pairs I use the G2 as it makes a tighter starting beam width, so I will test and see how it prints, otherwise I will run a G7, they print like a 3 element but are a longer FL single element lens, your longer thread module will help with the 9mm length G7, they normally focus near the end of the treads, buy your holder will help with that.
