and a few more-- the ones above with the blue LEDs are the Kenometer and are posted in the order taken just not every pic.

The last pic is of an error window that popped up a few times while doing these tests- I am not entirely sure what it means and if I scroll down thru this window there are many other details- SO AFAIK this had ne effect of the graphing but will know more when I send all those pics to the soft wear creator Trevor.

So Shaken & bungy need to discuss what happen next- As bungy wants to purchase several more items-- IMO --you two should split the ~$20 it will cost to send from here with 500$ insurance and tracking (USPS)
One other possible option may be... Another member wants this laser and that member can pay 'bungy' back what he spent paying Shaken & I will ship this laser to that member rather back to Shaken.

I will take some spot shots today and post them here-

Last bit of info-- MANY companies will be of no help once the warranty has lapsed-- BUT Gray and JETLASERS is not one of those-help will be given to repair any lasers from JL no matter how old it is and you can rest easy that while a repair may not be totaly free at least it will be done properly, quickly and at a very fair cost.

. btw Shaken did not purchase this laser thru me but as you can see I am treating him no differently-- and I must admit that how Gray does his biz has had a very positive effect on how I treat everyone too. Folks like JL Gray:beer:-- Chuck at AixiZ Lasers:beer:, Linna at Laserking :beer: and a very few others deserve our business, and have earned it.:beer:

First of all, thank you for the thorough and informative examination of this laser. I'm not ready to back out of the deal yet, but I do have some questions about your analysis. You mention other similar lasers behaving similar to this one yet because of the low price this is a good laser. Do you mean that other 700mW lasers produce graphs with similar numbers to this one, or with similar fluctuations in a higher range of mW? My concern is whether this is the expected output of a laser with 10 hours of use, and can I expect more degradation over its lifetime. How does this laser compare with other 700mW laser you have tested? Would it be worth my while to save up for a brand new 700mw from JetLasers?

IMHO ten hours is very little- especially if a duty rest cycle was used & in this case I believe it was.

I really do not think paying much more for a new laser would be the better choice-

First its already here- not coming in from China and facing a possible seizure- You do realize that there are duties/etc that can be placed on item of this value. So you have no worries about either of those factors.

Secondly- its a JETLASERS laser.
if you should have problem, like a reduced output you have remedies with Gray for a free fix.

And even after the warranty period is over Gray will still take very good care of you, .. he will still care about you being a satisfied customer even getting your laser in the secondary market.
I would say its wise to send JL an email letting them know the serial number and your name- & when you got it and who sold it to you. no problem.

here are the results of my measurements of the beam-
at the laser front it is 3.175mm when focused at the target 23 feet away.
at target the spot is 5.5562 mm- so the divergence is 1.414 mRad.
the shape was fairly round more so at 23feet than at apeture when it was just slightly oval shaped. here are some pics. I failed at getting a pic with the spot on my ruler., so i just drew a circle around the spot and measured it to be slightly less than 1/2 inch..

I would neither tell you to buy this laser nor would i advise against. IMHO the price is very fair- list IIRC is >$ 600 plus ship - (30$usd)this is listed at jetlasers.org. I did not handle this sale- this is the first time I have seen this laser. I know you both about the same- not much-so I have no 'dog in this fight'- my wish is for satisfied owners of JETLASERS. So you could say I am on Gray's side. I forgot to mention this this Pl-E has already been tapped with threads in the crown to tighten the screws that hold the JL BEs in place. ATM they only left in stock are the 3X BEs. However JL will soon be offering a new line of BEs I would assume again in 10x, 5x, and 3x and, of course, they will cost more than the ones just sold on clearence- for about 50% discount. And I am sure the new version will be an improved one. (why else change to these?)

I have seen and tested several other Pl-E and have two here I am selling for JL- and this good deal will make it hard for me to sell the 600 and 700 I am offering. -- These have survived long time testing- more than 25 min. there is a video of this test at youtube. I have not seen any high power 532 dpss handheld lasers that were perfectly stable- that did not at some time during the test 'flicker ' a little- and no graphs with the flat line like we see from the 100mW JL Titanium-Bs- (which DOES need to be 'rested' for 2 min after 3 min on).. And if bragging rights are important this laser peaked at nearly 1W on a LB 1 and a Kenometer lite..and that is AFTER a good quality IR filter.

Personal decision on this one but I will say that it has been thoroughly tested by Hak. How many others would go to these lengths of thorough testing to make sure all parties know where things stand.
That is some serious 532nm IR filtered peak power!
What I've found most interesting is how you keep getting peaks with a high quality unit rather than a slow (or fast) decay that never really jumps significantly back up. In the world of 532nm this is what I would call a "quality, stable unit". Have to remember that there's serious heatsinking here and unlike most handheld lasers regardless of mw rating you get peace of mind in many real world tangible ways.
I find myself "paranoid" about duty cycle with my units as I've seen and read too many stories on here even with units running over a few hundred $ (more from manufacturers/laser pointer companies than some of the well regarded builders here)

I was going to tell you bungy, I don't believe the power has degraded at all since I got it. I only had it for about a month and a half, and 10 hours on the diode was actually a high estimate. If the warranty is indeed a year, then you have a long time left on it, till around February maybe.

I did indeed not exceed the duty cycle, though there are videos Jetlasers themselves made on youtube of these being tested for obscene amounts of time. (like ten to fifteen min, depending on the vid)

Like hakzaw1, I want everybody to be happy. I took excellent care of this laser for the short time I had it. It was hard to let go, it was my biggest and baddest for the time being. This has been an excellent example of a LPF sale going the way they should, thanks again to all

Thanks again to everyone that helped me with this deal. I have been looking to buy a green laser for a looooong time. This one will go nicely with my 2.6W 445nm and I won't have to buy any extra safety glasses as all my current ones cover this wavelength.

YOUR laser went out today-- the girl came early on Thur- which turned ou to be good- as i forgot to add your JL wallwart. Im thinking Monday-its well wrapped and coming in one of those long flat med Flatrate boxes- tossed in some leftover parts from the Kasio PJ- a sliding lens- and the FS Mirror array- interesting how they made this mirror with 8 small ones stepped so that it squeezes all 24 diodes down into one big spot--
you get the finned HS- where the diodes used to live- in the PJ it has three serious 12 vdc fans blowing on those fins (or maybe sucking lol)

Comp. of AixiZ Lasers I tossed in a few warning stickers- maybe you can be more creative than me and come up with a spot on the PL -E to place it- if so let us know and we will be waiting for your review..

wish I could be there to see your face when you unwrap it- i was not quite ready for it to be so awesomely huge. remove tail cap then then the red plastic disc- screw the tail cap back on & you are locked and loaded.. there are two spacers already in place- not needed if you ever use protected cells- the 18650s are on me-
( if not already- try to get a safer kind of charger- the one sent may be good for trips etc but don't leave Li-ions in them more than necessary- read up on the dangers and get a 'smart' charger..

Yes, the games are in my basement, that's my other hobby - I have about 25 games right now but will be selling a few soon. Most are in the basement where it was dark enough to take pictures during the day. The blue laser burned holes in the black curtain at 18 feet - yikes! Thought it was burn-safe at around 10 feet, guess I need a better beam stop.

Yes it's a Pelican case - they're the best, as I'm sure you're aware.

I put that tripod together from parts I got at a local camera shop in Philadelphia. It is virtually impossible to tip over, even with the beastly PL-E mounted in it. It is very stable and solid; almost all the parts are made of metal. I was going to make a thread about it, but it seems like most people are content with the clip tripods.

Anyway, the camera shop has an online store and these are the parts I used:

• The tripod itself, which doubles as a monopod: Calumet Minipod Tabletop
  
• Then I mounted this quick-release tilt head so I could aim the laser in the veritical axis: Calumet 7052 QR Tilt Head
  
• The clamp is a generic studio clamp and it mounts right to the tilt head. It can hold any size cylindrical object from 3/8" to about 2-1/4" very securely: Calumet Studio Clamp

Looks like the total cost is about $78 without shipping. I know I paid less than that at the store, they were running a sale when I bought my parts.
It's pretty pricey, but I wanted to be sure it would never tip over or drop a laser putting myself and bystanders in danger.

I'm going to go back to the store and see if they have any options for mounting multiple clamps, I'd love to get three lasers on the same tripod.
