I know this has a price tag that may put it out of reach for some, but I'm really suprised this is still around.

I'd love to have it, but alas, 40 year old diabetic kidneys just aren't worth what they used to be on the black market. ;)

Well im open to reasonable offers, unfortunately im not accepting kidneys

Seeing this unit still unsold makes my wheels turn. I have a nice siamese kitten, german sheapard/pitbull puppy, 3yr old daughter, and a 7yr son who is quite the athelete. He ran for 175 yards in his game today.

Could any of these items entice you into a trade?

The 3.5W was sold a long time ago. This is a very similar build but without corrective optics, and using aixiz instead of g1 lenses.

As InfinitusEquitas pointed out, there is a difference between the 2
which also is responsible for the lower output..

I had the parts to make 3 with G1 and lavas cylindrical optics, now I have
1 set left.. A member here had inquired to the 3rd 3.5W ver but seems to
have dropped out. When its completed it will go up for sale, but the price is
higher on those.

The idea behind this 2.8W was to eliminate the cost and time to build and
reduce the sale price..

Because of the time it takes to set everything up, the LD's are run at a
relatively 'safe; current so the output is lower. The same current was run
in the 3.5W ver but the G1's accounted for the extra mW..

Thanks, this is a good point. I also re-read the first post, it was clear but I do not remember well :p
Are you sure that you don't take internal organs?? :)

why not just put in the G1 and advertise the newer power?
~$60 for a few hundred mw more is worth it imo
especially with a dual LD build like this one

He would need 2 lenses and he would have to re align everything

The internal head to this laser is completely different than the 3.5W. The arrangement
of the diodes would only allow that the lenses could use G1's, but, there would
no longer be room to fit the correction optics.

The idea with this laser was to use the aixiz 3 element lenses to gain the benefit
of lower divergence over that of the G1 without correction..

So in short, it could be done, but the beam would suffer :D

That and realigning everything would be a PITA..

Another point i would Suppose is Divergence why you cant just add the lens.

Adding Just G1 lens will make more Power But the Divergence will be bad.

I think one of his goals where to keep the divergence as best as possible.

Iam sure WB can Confirm.?

Power is Not everything.
