Up for sale is a nice Laserglow Vega. I originally got this in one of scopeguys group buys and I'm selling it because I simply never use it and I figure someone else would get more enjoyment out of it. The laser has a few little quirks. I bypassed the tail-cap interlock because it had connection issues and somehow the aperture shutter quit oppening and closing. I just leave it open permanently and keep a piece of tape over the aperture when the laser isn't in use.

Other than the above issues it's a perfectly good laser and puts out a brilliant and unusual 593.5 nm beam. The output tends to swing from 2-8 mw depending on the temperature/battery power etc. These tend to be very sensitive due to the complex nature of their crystals. You can read more about these on the laserglow site.

Here's your chance to get one of these unique lasers for less than half of the standard price. I'm selling this for $250 shipped to anywhere in the US.

... If the timing was just slightly different I'd love to have another one of these.

Razako, can you post some more dot shots?

casually, casually considering this. Has anyone sent something back to LG for repair? How long did it take? If you had similar repairs, how much did it cost?
Try asking murudai. He sent a used Herc back to laserglow for refurbishing. Anyway this doesn't technically need repair. It works fine as is.

Considering it too...

And no, this wouldn't need repair: the 2-8mW variation is absolutely 100% normal for 593.5nm lasers.

You could probably get a new tailcap and front (heatsink+aperture) assembly from LG or CNI, but no telling how much this would be... They're both easily removable (the tailcap, of course, and the heatsink cylinder with aperture shutter actually just unscrews, too.)

I'm not sure if LG stocks extra parts, that'd be something i'm interested in too as my Orion's shutter is a bit janky.

Re: Selling laserglow Vega for $325 shipped

I was thinking more about the aperture and the tailcap. The fact that they are damaged indicate that this may have been dropped a few times. That is what makes me hesitant.
It hasn't been dropped or anything. The tailcap issue was due entirely to the design of the interlock. It's not one of the newer "jack" type interlocks. It's this old 4 pronged thing that was corroded and didn't fit well into the laser. It caused the laser to flicker and was annoying to plug into the laser so I said "screw it" and bypassed the thing.

As for the shutter I honestly don't know exactly what's wrong with it. The head turns, but the shutter doesn't move. Either way the laser puts out a good clean beam with no mode hopping or anything so the crystals seem to be working fine.

Here's a shot at about 15 feet to give you an idea of the beam quality.

The shutter on PGL III's have given troubles in the past, it's not a really robust design. I like it though, better than RPL type, when it works, but that isn't all of these. It is a small detail if you ask me and the laser is a steal at under $400 IMHO! -Glenn

In light of someone selling a rigel-10 for $400 I'm dropping the price on this down to $300. It seems yellow portable lasers have come a long way this last year.

This unit iirc, uses 2X "C" batteries, the ones I get these days are always 1X 18650 battery, but those C's are easier to get batts! It's a very cool item, and I think it should be a quick sale. -Glenn
