Hi,

Time has come to sell my argon laser, it's too big to keep in my room and I don't get to use it as much as I like so I'd like to sell it on to someone who will use it more than me :)

I'm looking to get £70 for it, (fair price?) It's operating current is 7-7.5A for long life but you can push it to 10A for very very short period of time (15 seconds?) running at this current will severely lower life span.

It's a great laser with a really unique colour, I think it pushes out around 30mW, 50 max and I'll include a controller I built for it in a nice little project box with holes to put your DMM plugs in your current/power readings.

The sale includes everything you need to get it up and running, head/fan and power supply plus all the leads APART from a powersupply for the fan, any 12V/1.6A wall plug will work.

Here's some pics:

Postage in the UK shouldn't be too bad, I'll send it via inter parcel courier (£20?) how ever postage outside of the UK will be quite a bit.

Thanks!

Ash.

Re: Selling Argon laser - £100!

You might be lucky to get £100 for it - It took me ages to sell mine for £60.

Shipping is around £20 for UK addresses, but international shipping is crazy (£150)

Good luck

Rob

Thanks Rob, appreciate the info.

I'll put it up for 70, since I bought it for £60 and it cost me a little to put together a controller.

hmm if this is around 473nm i might offer like 70 but thats us

488nm, It's a beautiful cyan colour, a bit more green than 473nm. While I'd except £70, postage to the USA will be ALOT, as in £150 according to rob. Also be aware this is particularly sensitive bit of equipment, all though I would do my best to package it safely, and make sure we go with insurance.

IMO that is a very fair price-

- great job on the controller and IIRC that is the much desired 'gold' PSU that with a flip of a switch it can work with both voltages.

I have one just like it and the color/divergance are a wonder to behold. Another nice thing about this one is the fan-- the round style heads require a seperate fan and a connecting hose-- all a big PITA.

GAS still rules.

btw
I have an Argon FS in my sig.

How much does it weight and how much shipping to spain would be?

BTW if you're in london or near a ryanair operated airport, a flight to the UK could be cheaper than shipping.

I might be interested if shipping is low enough. As a birthday present for myself.

Thanks for all the info, I forgot to mention most of it. There is indeed a 110V/220V switch, and the fan is amazingly powerful and requires no duct tubing.

how and why is this still here?!

I wish I knew the answer! :D hopefully a buyer will come along soon.

It comes in at 18KG, the airport idea is definitely a viable route, although I think the luggage limit is 15KG, and 10KG for hand luggage and it can get chucked around a lot in general baggage loading area, and I think it could be too large hand luggage wise.

I'm a good 2 hours away from London airport which is around £35 in fuel, If you can find away round the weight/size issue, the box is 40cm X 51cm.

I have packaged it up very well with lots of polystyrene/bubble rap and tape but still I wouldn't put it through the airport loading system, they don't take much care at the best of times.

Definitely get back to me though, I'm sure there's away around it.
