Inside the tailcap (where the battery makes contact with it), there should be two small barely visible holes opposite sides of eachother, you need to unscrew it with those two holes. If you don't own something similar to this, try using a pair of tweezers or two small screwdrivers!

My laser arrived after 2 days :)
What if I inserted the batteries wrong and turned the laser on?

The driver has reverse polarity protection. The laser should be fine.

You wont believe this but my brand new laser died.

When I turned it on for the first time the laser beam and the dot wasn't that bright as I expected. I took ~7sec to burn a hole though a CD case and after like 30mins after I first turned the laser on it suddenly became very dim and its not possible to see the dot 10m away. And I never left my laser turned on for more than 20sec. The host and the heatsink stayed cold and never got warm.
I was extra careful with the duty cycle because I can still remember when I fryed my dvd red laser diode. I have absolutely no luck with lasers :(

Did you check the battery voltage ? I could be a battery fault.
If not sent it back and I repair it. The laser has warranty. No worries. :)

The batteries are perfect. I tested them on a 9V LED.
