Re: Rick Trent laser kits

with this lens it seams to be the case, but i'm wondering if rick might be on to something, in his last video he talked about with his setup he doesn't like pressing the diode into a module or heatsink but he does something else. i'm wondering in the little bit of force that where putting on the module and we squeeze into whatever where using for heatsinking maybe effecting it in some what??? has there ever been a test of some sort ran on this?

I can't even "imagine" a condition under which this might cause such a difference

Re: Rick Trent laser kits

Are we under the impression that these diodes are coming from the same projector as DTR or different?

I don't suppose rick will say where he gets them?

Re: Rick Trent laser kits

Well rick did previously say in the old tread I believe they where from a different projector.

I thank it is the brass lens holder I got from the seller the hole going through the lens is .026 smaller then my T1 lens holder I use and I did notice setting the beam go to infinity made it higher on my LPM I will keep testing and try find out what is going on . if you do not need it you can send it back for a refund ,PS see if you get a better spot at 20' away

Well thanks, you saved me the hassle of trying one of these lenses myself.

I have a suggestion for you, you may already know this,
but if you set your laser either in a stand of some kind,
or just on top of a shirt while metering with a 20c so you don't have to hold it,
you will get a much smoother/accurate reading.

Re: Rick Trent laser kits

The comments are mixing up here and this scenario is only making it confusing, since it is a FS thread we would like to open up a review thread.

The review thread will contain rick's stuff reviewed by vets or respectable members, or others may want to pitch & think they have "better" equipment/capability of performing a thorough test with "no maybe's if's or but's" I want to contribute towards testing them before they go on sale.

So tomorrow would you like me to send it back to you then? Was the lens IE got the same as mine?

Thanks for your test. I will send you one of my 2.5A driver they run very cool if you could test it for me let me know if you would like me to send one . I would like to find a good 2.8A driver that run cool.
the diodes I use are set 2.1A from factory do you know what dtr diodes are from factory ?

i would test a 2.5A driver with my Test load to show stability but i'm sure one of the members with an oscilloscope would be able to show much more valiable info. as for factory diode power i have no clue but someone might.

T1=G2=9mm A very efficient lens is a very efficient lens. Aren't they 95% pass through. It really can't get better than that. 2800mw*.05=140mA. Even if it was 100% pass through, it would only be 5% more output. 3200mw*.05=160mw. FTW

Hey Rick have you built any of these 3W 523nm lasers yet?

just one that I was test I was use a 12w 808nm just took it to 1.5W 532nm it is so hard to keep it all lined up and I my have to work on making it ok to ship and putting it in a cool host .:lasergun:

would you thank that the brass lens holder being .023'' smaller on the inside of the lens I tested could hold back some of the beam./power that is all I can come up with.
