Would any Australian's be interested in buying Blu-Ray lasers with the PHR-803T diode from me if I started making them in small boxes...
If so I will, all I need is a vice and the parts....[smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Heh, just wait. If all my Sonar cases aren't sold in 3 months, I'll be making some sweet high power blu-rays in the Sonar case :)

I'm sure people would be interested. Not me personally, but at the moment no one in Australia is building blu-rays, so you'll corner the entire market! Well, until I start ;)

When paypal stops %^&*ing me around and %^&*ing me off I am ordering the rest of my parts for my blu ray build.

Its gonna be an 803T with an Aixiz in an MXDL with jay's heatsink.

Not for sale though :)

If I sell blu-ray's they will probably cost around $100AUD. Murudai your blu-rays will cost a lot more because of the sonar case  I wonder if people here in Australia want low price with a box or high price with a super nice case.. :-/

You will find you'll have a much harder time shipping pointers around Au now :p

Atleast the box type doesnt really look like a laser :p

Like I said, I can't start building these things until December. By then the blu-ray market will of changed dramatically. 200mW will be the standard by then I reckon.

Start building your boxes freshert :) I'm sure you'll get good returns.

And no, internal packages do not go through customs. Or they might, but the law is for importing lasers in to the country, and you're not doing that. I've had no trouble shipping high powered lasers internally, you won't have any problems.

Thanks for the confidence boost Murudai. Daguin lets hope people buy my lasers in the first place :-[

Heres a little diagram of how I think i should make the laser. If there are any improvements I can make to it please tell me!

You should add some heat sinking to the module. Blu-rays don't produce as much heat as reds, but heat is the number one killer of diodes (after IgorT <snerk>)

Also get some feedback from someone more knowledgeable about how long a "regular" 9V will last. They are not used much, so I am assuming that how long they last is an issue. I use 10440's in my lasers that use the Rkcstr driver.

Peace,
dave
