Moh, I'm new to building. I assume we need to give you a current? Do you have any easy guidelines? Also, I assume 405s and 445s are good, what else works in these kits? Thanks for any help you can offer a noob builder.

pretty much any diode can be used in this kit, as long as it's a 5.6mm diode.

I do have to have the current, which i'll collect and include on the invoice when i collect the payments.

What are the possible ranges and is there a place I can easily estimate what I should get? Or should I just go HIGH and look for diodes to match?

look at any of the drivers. there is a drop down box that shows current options. These are available in the same current options.

So, what kind of mW should we expect to see from x.xx mA? Is there a simple chart or is it different for each diode. I apologize for my ignorance, I'm trying to learn as fast as I can!

According to this thread it might put out 1.8W when driven at 1.62A with DTR's 445 and a G2 lens.

My current kit from Moh is at 1.62A with DTR's 445 and a G2. When my LaserBee LPM gets here I'll meter it.

Lights red matches instantly from about six feet without much fussing with the focus (and with the standard, non-G2 lens) and on non-fully charged AW 3.7V ICR 123's at 750mAh.

1.8A may be a little hot, but I am not experienced enough to opine definitively. Might add a copper heat sink to mine just for grins.

I'm thinking that I got in over my head a little. I was thinking that I would be able to get some quick education on some typical mA settings for typical builds.

I'm thinking that I want to do a 445 single mode, a 405 and maybe a 640-660 and do them all as hot as possible, but I'm assuming red is much harder to find a diode that will run 500 mW than a 405 and I think single mode blue is also hard. I may have to just order a 1.8 1.0 and .625 or something like that and see what I end up matched with.

Or maybe I should order them all 1.8 and just build some burners and sell them!

Heck, I don't know. I'm gonna have to make up my mind soon though. Anyone buying here with any tips?

I don't think Moh wants to deal with an annoying noob on these. :crackup:

I'm assuming the chinese return today as it is 5:30am Jan 29th their local time.

i'm sending him another e-mail to bug him in case he is flooded with requests...surely he will see the masses of emails i've sent.
I want to get the order in tonight and ask him to get it sent ASAP. I think last time it took about a week from the time i ordered to it showing up at my door.

They will be shipped either DHL or FedEx Express.
I don't want hong kong post touching it, or it'll end up in a customs container for a month
