hey anyways so i hear that senkat might be doing 1 last GB so i found some diodes red but max is 140mw and there 8x speed i have to buy 100 to get them cheap so im gonna charge $10.50 per diode im charging this much cause im gonna have to ship em and its a bit time consuming so if your all interested pm me or leave a post or best of all email me

here are the specs:

140mW @650-660nm pulse mode developed for DVD RW 8x speed. 5.6mm diodes

50 mW CW

CW output set at about 75 mW and it pops balloons, smokes tape at close range, etc.

Definitely not as rugged as the 1236's, which are rated at 80 mW CW, and of course most are finding that they can be easily overdriven. (thanks to joniverson)

thats all i could find

I'd probably be interested in a few at that price, they could be used for a lot of projects! Oh don't bother dropping the price a dollar, I know group buys are stressful and time consuming so you do deserve to make a little money off the deal, plus your gonna have to pay for packing and everything to ship the diodes! No offense but one problem that could turn away people is your lower post count, maybe if you stay here a little longer and get established better you will get quicker sales.

If you can get those better than the price of the guy that sells SenKat diodes for the group buy you will be the LPF hero!

Could you get some specs on these diodes?

I think some people might like them at the $10 mark, even though they arent quite the most powerful units on the market. But it all depends a bit on how easy they are to drive, and how much CW power they can handle (since operation in DVD writers is always pulsed, this varies between diodes with equal peak power).

The max limit to teh ones he is talking about is 140mw - after that, they are toast. I have ordered them, BEyond 140 (had to try, didn't I ? LOL !!!) they are little items to step on in your workshop. So, with that being said, it is a decent deal if you recognize the limits...

Yeah, surely it's 140mW PULSED in a 8x drive, so what, you looking at a 'rated output power' of 60mW?
Overdriven, you could get what? maybe 100mW if you're lucky, no wait, very lucky. :-/
But, since Senkat is probably ending the GB's, it's definately alot better than anything available now, so it would be a good idea, especially at $10

How much you get in terms of CW varies with the diode... thats why a datasheet would come in handy! Without, it's also hard to know how much current is required for a certain power level, and you'll just have to guess unless you have a good power meter.

The ones from Senkat's GB have their datasheet online. Without, you'd have to resort to destructive testing to find the limit - bit of a waste?

thats all i could find they are standard 3-pin diodes they might work with daedal's circuit

you can get 200mw 650nm diodes that are CW not pulsed for £20 each
