Hi I'm new and my fiance's birthday is coming and the one thing he wants is a green burning laser from dragon lasers. I work full time on top of trying to raise my 2 kids from a previous marriage and I don't make alot so I don't have the $300 to purchase his perfect birthday gift. But I do have skills which include soldering electronics and whatever I have tried to learn I have accomplished beautifully! Please tell me what I need to build him a green burning laser to give him the best birthday ever because he is worth it. I know I need a diode, a driver, a housing and possibly a heatsink but everyone says different specifications and I don't know who to believe. Can anyone tell me a website to go to or give me instructions? Pretty Please?
Thank you for your time!:thanks:

Your best best is to buy a complete green laser, cheapest that way. I'd reccomend getting one of these:
Power Rock Green laser Torch 100mW /Focusable&Waterproof [OL-PRGL100] - $72.99 : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce

I had a 50mW version and it was freaking awesome, no better laser for that amount of money, when you're on a tight budget.

Building a green laser is actually not a true DIY project, closest you can get is buying a pre-made module and simply securing it in a host of your choice. No soldering involved. This is due complex nature of all the tiny optics inside the module to produce green light (it's not just simple lens in front of a diode), which cannot be reproduced at home with any degree of reliability.

First, you'll need to get him laser safety glasses if you don't want your fiance to get blinded :)

You can find cheap ones at cajunlasers.com or radiantelectronics.com

2) You'll need a green module (150mW should do it DIY 150mW 532nm Green Laser Module)
3) You'll need a host, aka a laser body. (This would work fairly well and it comes with a heatsink Ultrafire WF-602c Laser Host & Heat Sink kit (silver) [ULTR602S] - $29.99 : Cajunlasers Store)
4) You'll need a 16340 li-ion battery & a 3.7v li-ion charger. Battery can be found here: Juice Brand 3.6v RCR123 - $2.50 : Mohgasm!, Because it feels so good.

And I'm not sure if you need a lens with a green module, I don't think so, but then how goes the focusing work? Hmm I've never done a green before, but I'm sure others can tell you.

*EDIT*: But like Euda said, it really will be a lot easier to get a completed laser from somewhere like Lazerer or O-like as they have decent lasers for good prices.
