The mail has been real sucky lately...to say the least. Many of us will probably get them tomorrow.
I am checking on the 47uf capacitor. I know it has been the norm for a long time and most everyone has been using it. But I can't remember why.

As about the capacitor, try to get the biggest cap that will fit in your application (47uF - 300uF is fine). As for the voltage rating on the capacitor, the higher the better. At a minimum, make sure it is rated at more than twice the supply voltage.
I know he explained why but we will have to wait for him to explain again.

I got my two diodes in Saturday, and I love them! Too bad I haven't got my modules from AixiZ yet, it's been 24 days from when I ordered it. Probably the massive demand for the modules.

I also ordered the $4 Aixiz 12X30mm case, at least 7 days ago. Does anyone know the shipping time for US customers? I dont mind waiting if i know when its comming.
If you don't want to use a cap you can try an MOV (varistor) instead. You won't get the stored energy that's in a cap, and you'll still get spike protection.
I ordered some of those 4.5$ 12x30 modules too. Not too impressed with'm, like the focusing. Has anyone tried the other one? The 4$ 8mm X 14mm one. It's not too clear on which one that is on their site looking at the pictures. I'd like to get something as small as possible, and the 12x30 seems a bit large in diameter than what's possible. Do the 4$ one's have the better focus for burning, or the 4.5$ ones? I think I heard someone mention they preferred the plastic lens for burning.

I have the small Aixiz modules and they are tiny and will heat up fast. As long as you use short duty cycles you will be ok. As far as I know all of the Aixiz modules come with plastic lenses. You would need to contact them directly to get modules with the glass lenses. Some people did get glass lenses and there were mixed opinions on them, but the plastic lenses in the modules I have burn very well and are easy to focus. There is quite a bit of play in the threads, but even my Meredith module has play in the threads. Nevertheless, I am very happy with the smaller Aixiz module.

I hoping :-/ to get my diodes sometime this week, as it's been 2 weeks this w/end since the first batch were mailed from GB 2 (or was it 3 i was in). arwell, ive been researching better ways to do stuff with it & drive it in teh meantime.
As a new forum member, who was one of the many that signed up after seeing "that" video, I would like to say thank you to all the regular ("old timer") forum members for their patience and helpfulness. I know how to read & search but it seems others don't, and there were the inevitable silly and repeated questions - I am amazed that there hasn't been an open-season flame war. It says a lot about the maturity and the mindset of you guys. I may be just lurking, but I felt compelled to say how impressed I am with this forum. Thanks all..!
Now I will go quietly back to waiting for my LD and housing to turn up!

or advice on where to get just diodes of this grade ( red 650/670) with burning power ( useing axixz 12x30 case+lens)
i have expresed interest in a readymade one from kenom if that falls thorugh i will be willing to buy any premade "Burners" that like light matches/burn eletrical tape/pop baloons ( 100ma or more please)

i'm too cheap for priority shipping. I had $50 AUD which turned into just enough in USD in my paypal to get 2 aixiz's and 2 LDs.
