"Black Cat" RED Pocket 635nm, 500mW +

attachment.php

This is a new ultra-tiny build that uses the low-profile Mosquito on-lead driver, in a tiny AAA host machined in Germany, with a unique serial number engraved on the outer face underneath the "Black Cat" logo. As far as AAA hosts go, this host is really high quality, great machining, very smooth threading (not true of generic AAA hosts). It puts out 500mW on my LaserBee, and higher on my Ophir (during the first 45 seconds when the LaserBee model I own is still getting its reading). This is a true "pocket" build, and occupies not that much more than the volume of the underlying 10440 that powers it.

Included with this build:
- BlackCat RED individually numbered host from Germany.
- 635nm Mtisubishi multi-mode diode, outputting 500mW+
- Ultra low profile, ultra low dropout, Mosquito RED driver (seen here)
- RED coated 3-element glass lens
- Black lanyard

10% of the selling price will be donated to Rob. See here if you haven't read it already:

Shipping will be trackable and fully insured. International please PM for shipping costs.

You MUST own laser protection goggles appropriate for this wavelength, and
You MUST be over 20 years of age, and
You MUST be familiar and experienced with the appropriate safety precautions to take with lasers of this power.
You MUST NOT be a resident of Canada

This is not a laser pointing device. At all times, protective laser safety glasses appropriate for this wavelength must be worn by the operator. This laser should not be used around 3rd parties (non-operators) pets, or for any recreational purpose.

This laser is meant to be used as a portable calibration laser light source for LPM (laser power meter) sensors and meter systems. In order to ensure the most reliable calibration for your system, it is prudent to use multiple calibration lasers, representing multiple wavelengths, as well as multiple output powers, spanning the range of an LPM sensor's working detection range.

The heat dissipated by the unit itself will be in the range of 2.5 to 3.5W.

Thank you! I've been collecting neat hosts for a while, and finally had some build time recently. I like the challenge of really small hosts :)

Re: FS: "Black Cat" RED Pocket 635nm @ 500mW

Hey guys,

I've lowered the price on this guy. Frankly, I priced it too high. I have cut quite a bit off, and am offering her for $210 with shipping included (tracked + insured).

My apologies for the initial ($269 + $18) shipping price tag. When I looked at that tonight, it just looked greedy, and I don't like that at all. I have no qualms about calling other people out for asking prices that are clearly too high. This price, was clearly too high.

As far as I know, there are only two 1,000mW 635s out there (mine and Lazeerer's)

If you're interested in purchasing it, shoot me a PM. I wasn't necessarily looking to sell it, but I'd be ok with doing so if you were interested.

So what is your 1000mW 635 a "C" mount ?

Re: FS: "Black Cat" RED Pocket 635nm @ 500mW

Sorry, my bad.

The actual model is the "HM-01". So LaZeRz is right, it's made by BlackCat. I probably should have been calling it the HM-01 then, not the BlackCat.

It's sort of a neat anomaly. It's not a terribly expensive host, given its size. But it's really well machined. I've seen a lot of the AAA hosts, many of them even red like this one. There are a few of the "Tank 007" AAA hosts that look similar. I have most of those, and they're "cheap" feeling. This one isn't. It threads really smoothly, the clicky is very firm, and the red annodizing is almost a "wine red", as opposed to any kind of bright red.

In writing this post, I'm actually realizing that the lanyard I put on it is branded "Tank 007". That was rather silly on my part, and I'll make sure that I swap on a neutral black lanyard instead. I don't know how that one slipped by me when I was taking the photos.

Re: FS: "Black Cat" RED Pocket 635nm @ 500mW

Does this laser have the burning power associated with a laser rated at 500mw? I don't know anything about the AAA power supply and it's ratio to output power.
