Sorry, it's already sold to someone. This thing went pretty quickly (I think I may have underpriced it a bit).PM Sent. I will take it. I think it will make a nice first laser for me. Now I will hafta get some goggles.
lol first laser? Even now I don't have one that powerful (probably a good thing )
Razako, it was definitely underpriced! The diode alone I believe is $120, the $50 host, $15 focus cone, the $>15 driver, the wires, the solder, the lens. $180 would've been more fair but hey you helped someone out.
Ok, I probably shouldn't have said it that way. I am not a 13 year old high-schooler; I am 36 yrs old and have a Masters in Electrical Engineering, and am a very careful person. I have several firearms and am just now getting interested in lasers. I didn't get it anyway, so it is a moot point. Good snag, Chrisbee!5W is NOT a good idea for a first laser. That's a terrible idea. Start with something much lower in power.

I think what Diachi is saying, is there is no room for error with a 5 watt laser. I wouldn't expect room for error with a 1 watt, but I'd much rather the accident be with that than 5 watts.
Well I say that it's like in a head one accident going 40mph vs 100mph.Either way it can be a serious accident-- dangerous is dangerous--either can cause permanent occular damage easily--1W as 5W

Saying your would rather have a accident 1W than a 5W is like saying you would rather get run over and killed by car rather than a bus or truck, pretty much.
