It uses a custom driver, and are powered by 3x 10440 cells. They come with a custom focus adapter, and use a coated 3-element lens.
One note about batteries. Take a look at this:

Can you believe how much height variance there is among 10440s? Even among similarly cheap ones like Trustfire / Ultrafire. This build will only fit regular sized 10440s (ie, the ones that are truly the same length as AAA batteries). I did my testing with IMRs from Lighthound, and they fit great. But longer cells won't. I've pre-modded the batter carrier to work with 10440s that don't have that extra long "nib" that most AAAs have, but you still need to pay attention to battery lengths. Extra long batteries simply won't fit.
