Re: New Stock of Overspec 5mW Green

I just got a new batch where they are more stable from my testing but not as powerful. They're still over spec but not getting upwards of 40mW. Sacrifices sometimes need to be made :p hopefully these will be a bit better!!

Awesome cannot wait to get them :)

Re: New Stock of Overspec 5mW Green

hey swimsurfer, my friend in Chicago got his laser, but it started dimming really bad, and now all he sees is a yellowish light, I think his diode burnt out or something, what should he do for a replacement, just ship it back to you? he only played with it for a little bit, and all the different batteries he tried didn't fix it

Yeah he can send it back. Ill replace it with one of the more stable ones I just got.

Thats funny dereileak. I shined my laser at nearby fireworks going off in the air too. and the laser was glowing through the fireworks smoke. luckily the people could not complain because here in california fireworks that go in the air are illegal. at least in so cal.

same here, anything that goes in the air is illegal in mn, yet everyone is shooting them off, and the main complaint, my laser, wow, lol

Re: New Stock of Overspec 5mW Green

Just got my greenie today. VERY pleased with it. It's a very bright beam, and while I can't put it to a LPM quite yet, it appears to be quite overspec. Thanks swim, +rep for you!

Both of mine came in; working quite well and without the dimming issue that others have reported, power seems to be stable. Only minor issue is on one it looks like there may be a fingerprint getting in the way, but that'll be easy enough to clean.

Re: 5mW 405nM $9 on eBay

Thanks. Probably gonna buy one now. I would like to know how cheaply it's made but at $10 it's hard to complain.

Update: Just bought that laser + a green 5mw laser from the same seller for $15, some combo deal. And he lives up in LA so it will probably only take a day for it to get here. I'll probably give the green one to a buddy.

5mW for $9! Why not spend a tiny bit more, build your own, and get 100mW!

I'm sure it'll be overspec, (it seems the 5mW BR ones usually are), but building your own is so much more satisfying!

PHR for $10, driver from O-like for close to $6, battery and Aixiz and you're away!

A review with pictures would be cool though anyway.

Yeah, I just wanted a weak one so that I could play with it.

And I read your DIY post, it still seems like chinese to me. Eventually I could figure it out but it would take a lot of reading. I have never even soldered before :yabbem: I need a friend that does that stuff to teach me in person. Maybe I'll take a class in Jan when I start school again.

I think the divergence is kinda crappy, at 100M it was barely visible and id say 2M in diameter.

Build quality is good for $9 I think I dont have any better lasers though, I like the matte finish and the on off button feels like it will last but its not tight enough and rattles

I got this one because its the least visible color and strength and Im using it for lectures (and fun) I had an instructor use a green laser and it was too bright for me

There's no way the divergence is that bad lol you're talking 20mRad :wtf:
In fact, you shouldn't be able to see 5mW of 405nm anywhere close to that distance.
I think it's just playing tricks on your eyes :p
