Something I have never really understood - what does a 12x output respectively a 6x?

12X is about 400+ mW 6x is about 200 mW although many of the folks here will trade long life for more output -GH

There are about 15 of these still ava. now!

what's with the red diode in there, i read a couple old threads. it led's at 250ma. is it good for anything?
