New guy(sort of) wanting to buy/trade lasers!

I've been a long time lurker around these parts and have been more than enthused about lasers. So I decided to join the community!
As a college student, I don't have the time nor inclination to build my own. So to get myself back into the hobby I would like to buy/trade for a pre-made custom. Then I'd be wanting to make my own after seeing some fine work of the people of this forum.
I'm looking for a green laser with the capability to light a match from a "reasonable" distance. Not looking for a labby, just a handheld. Doesn't have be in the best host. Something that works and dissipates heat. Keeping the price range within the 100mW-200mW area.

Also looking for my first blue laser. I've also been fascinated by blu-ray technology. I've really been wanting one to play with. Doesn't have to burn, just able to project a brilliant(and very bright) beam across the night sky. Keeping it 50mW-100mW.

You will get lasers cheaper from China than a member here. (unless it's custom-built blu-ray)

Personally, I would get a bluray from a member here.

-Sounds like you should sell your stuff around campus (or craigslist, e-bay, etc...) and save up enough for an inexpensive Green or Red Burner.
I would get a $20 50mW green for star pointing.

If you want 473nm Blue, like the Spartan, but not as costly, I'd contact Glenn (scopeguy20) about getting an Aquarius from his next CNI GB, it's a nice laser, and is $315 shipped, if I remember right. They're 5mW but sometimes you get overspec ones. Keep in mind that it is pulsed, so it wont show a straight line when you move it back and forth, but a line of dots, like this: http://www.laserglow.com/pages/products/aquarius/main4zoom.jpg

Just so you know, a blu-ray laser (405nm) is a lot harder for you eyes to see because of the wavelength. To have a cleary visible beam in the night sky, you would probably want 250mW+ or so of blu-ray. Everyones eyes are different, but the 110mW I had was barley visible.

Your eyes will see green laser very well. If your okay with the pen style I'd recommend Optotronics for quality and amazing beam divergence. If you want the led flashlight style you can buy a jay-rob kit and an o-like module, which would be easy to build yourself.

Be prepared to shell out hundreds of dollars for a true blue laser, us hobbyists cannot currently make a real blue laser so you are going to have to pay big bucks even for a weak blue pointer. If you can settle for violet there are a lot of options on this forum.

Ah, I guess I meant a violet laser then. I've seen lots of people making lasers out of the blu-ray diodes.

I Violet is also less visible than Blue. As blue 473nm is clsoer to the 555nm of eyes range.
