just to add.if a person buys an anodized host and scratches it or wants the aluminum look.anodizing can be removed using acetone.strip host and let soak in bowl of acetone for an hour.then wash off with water.
i really like your products but not rich enough to buy.

I was actually thinking of doing this myself to a couple of the hosts for sale some time.

In-fact I know someone in the powder coating business, perhaps I will get mine powder coated. This stuff is really durable!

Not sure if I should post this here or message you but..

My laser isn't working anymore. I'm not sure what happened. I was using it fine last night but a few hours later I turned it on and it clicked on for a split second and I could see the beam and then it died and hasn't worked since. :cryyy:

I charged the batteries to see if maybe they were just completely dead but the laser still didn't work. I tried to do the aluminum foil trick next to see if maybe it was just a bad connection. Well when I clicked the laser on I could start to feel heat through the body. I clicked it immediately off and unscrewed the tail cap and the batteries felt like they were on fire and about to explode. I'm using the UltraFire batteries that you provide and have no others to test.

I didn't drop it anytime between me using it as it was in my pocket the entire time. Any help would be appreciated.
:thanks:

Response to Rainbow

Did you respect the duty cycles?
Are the batteries backwards? (Hopefully this driver has a rectifier diode should this happen)

*Questions (please mind my lack of experience on the matter):
Case 1-Do you think the battery just malfunctioned only.
Case 2-Do you think the battery malfunctioned and killed the driver (diode still good?
Case 3a-Driver malfunction (act of god; everything else still good)
Case 3b-Driver malfunction: The M140 diode sucked all the amps it could get and blew?
Case 3c-Driver malfunction(short): battery is in a closed loop heating up. (or luckily its just some odd instance where only the batteries are shorting in the case)
Case 4-Batteries don't have that "auto protection cell thing"

I would have PMed this... ApexProxy is a respected member, and this seems like a isolated incident

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by the aluminum foil trick but whatever it was if the batteries heated up it sounds like that completely fried something. Before you did that it is possible that one of the batteries had been slightly faulty or it was simply a bad connection but now I fear something is very fried. Its also a reason I am now having to run the cells through a cycle before I send them out to make sure they work properly. I really would not ever suggest altering the laser at all if something goes wrong because then its very difficult for me to be able to help especially since it sounds like something went extremely wrong with the alteration. Please explain what you did in more detail in PM and we can work on it from there. I am still hoping its something easy to fix. Swapping drivers takes 15 minutes max so if that's the issue its no big deal.

In general, if anything is to ever go wrong with your laser(even if its just acting oddly) PLEASE do not do anything to the laser and just contact me.

It's not really a trick, I simply meant that I put a small piece of aluminum foil at the tail cap to see if maybe there was just a faulty connection between the tail cap and batteries. As far as I'm aware that shouldn't have caused any problems as I've seen that idea brought up quite a few times on this forum. I could very well be wrong though.

I'll still shoot you a PM.

So sky pointing with this beast will have to be only when I drive out somewhere. (don't want to scare the neighbors):tinfoil:.

Damn thing can bite my thumb while focusing! (ohh I love it).:D Fine adjustments while off seems better to me!

Pamper the duty cycle, and wear goggles even when inserting the batteries.

So sky pointing with this beast will have to be only when I drive out somewhere. At least I got to see it in the sky for like 2 seconds (don't want to scare the neighbors):tinfoil:.

Now on my day off I set up a large black cloth blanket on the wall, and tried focusing it... Damn thing bit my thumb on the third focus attempt! (ohh I love it even more now).:D Now fine adjustments while off seems better to me!

All in all its great and solid. I pamper the duty cycle, and wear goggles even when inserting the batteries. Although I will have to hold off on close burning until I get some OEM ARGs. (Thanks for all the bubble wrap too!)

I will update a link in here to a brief external pictures/video thread on my next day off.

This worked great for me and only $9.99 :) Extended Length Focusing Ring - Clear Anodized

"It is nearly 1/2' long with a knurled outer surface and allows easier focusing without burning your fingers."

Edit: The GITD dust covers fits these also...

Nice. I like the grip texture, but I got the GITD ring because it compliments the laser. However when my wallet recuperates (or my credit card comes; whichever first) I might sneak in a tritium ring from FP when I order OEM ARGs (sneaky sneaky!) :D Although jrob looks good, but pricey...

by then I might stumble upon more rings.

I got to say blue is my favorite color, and now that I have seen its power I will definitely be making my own custom build. Maybe some day when new diodes can take 4amps ill invest in the huge mag-light host.

as for now this can explain my situation

LOl Bacon are the goggles on your dog the ones you got from me? XD

BTW, I even use one of the SL extended focus rings on one of my personal Black Ice lasers. For the most part though I think having an after glow effect on the lens adds so much coolness which is why I got the GITD rings in the first place.

Yes they are. Why do you think I ordered two (jk the other is for my bro "guest goggles")

That is my big pooch. He wears sun glasses usually, but now he wears the Uvex! (and for anyone reading this: no he isn't around when the laser is on. Just for looks  )
