Bad news guys, my supplier just trippled the price, looks like it will be a while, as I need to find a new supplier.

www.freewebs.com/neshades

The shades are 3-5 OD for 532nm, unfortunately, that's the best optical density Carter could give with his equipment.

It's just $29 shipped with USPS priority for folks in the US, and $35 for you folks outside the US.

If your interested, please email me @ nes_ds@bellsouth.net

EDIT: Out of the many I have sold on Ebay, here are three quotes from the buyers:

Nope, no shades for reds...yet.... :p

I'm trying to find someone who can supply shades for 650nm, but I have yet to find one.

That is correct and he was able to estimate the OD rating.

you know there's a big diffrence between .1 ( OD3 ) and .001 ( OD5 )

The only way I know to measure OD ratings is to use a really stable known light source in a darkroom and fire away. Then measure what comes out the other side of the filter. you do several measurements at diffrent angles to make sure it's all the same and if you are feeling really scientific you measure at diffrent temperatures as well since the density of the optics can change.

you really need a set of OD calibation filters and they are $$$$$$$$. you use those to compare readings to and determine what your medium's OD rating is.

Yep, that's why I gave such a big range (2 orders of magnitude!), I know I can't figure it out to any greater precision without guesswork. However, in either case, I figure the goggles provide enough protection for at least a watt of green, and I highly doubt anyone with a >1W greenie is gunna stop by LPF to find a pair of budget goggles.

You got a point there Peusdo, if someone has the money for a watt of 532nm I think they would have enough to get some top of the line protection from NOIR, or one of the other big names out there.

well, not green, but I'm hoping to snag 3W of IR and am looking for discount goggles on LPF... supposedly need 5+ OD sadly, though, prices I've seen are $100+ for the 927 frequency I'm looking at... dont suppoe you have any sources for those @ <$50, do you? Anyone?

There's quite a big price difference between 3W IR and 1W green tho ;D (green being way more expensive)
