I plan to make a 1W magenta build with a new 3.8mm red and a 12X with a PBS. Should look pretty cool :) I will be running the same build with a single mode 635 and if I need to tone down the 12X I'll just pot her down. I hope to get a brighter more "pink" output. Good luck with your build sir!

EDIT: Oh and I DID have a transaction with FP for the diodes I needed. However after I contacted him on what I needed he disappeared.

I've seen him posting over at MFO's forum.

I'm not posting a link, so you'll have to use the search thingy.

Why not just pick up some $5 red, and violet pens off ebay. Then use a PBS cube from a PHR sled.

I've read that those cubes are too much of a pain in the arse to be even remotely useful.

All alinement optics are a PITA. You just have to take your time, use a slow drying epoxy, and make sure you have the right polarization of the diodes.

I do believe the dicros in that sled can be used to combine beams too. Jayrob used them in his r/g pointer to make yellow. Not sure if they will work with violet though. But for basically free its worth a try.

You cant, thats the point. Not in a portable anyway. Even the 7 color builds dont do pink.

Have you seen the showwx laser projectors? The colours are
insane.. Yellow looks great, as do all the others.

Balance and alignment, you can have it all, even brown :undecided:

Will it do a solid color coherent beam?

As in one solid beam? no.. But just as close as you can get.
Its convincing enough that your eyes believe it....

I have seen many laser shows, many combined beams, but when it
comes to life on those little projectors, the colours are phenomenal.

Whats strange is I made a beam expander for my showwx as you
cant adjust focus, or image size.. Even at a moderate distance I was
able to shrink down the frame size, and there was no issue with focus.

Great little piece of technology, and for the price you cant beat it.

I cant wait for some 1500 lumen full sized version to start popping up

^ Thanks. I just ordered from modwerx. Not sure what I'm gonna do about combining beams but I guess it doesn't really matter. This thread can die now.

I buy my reds from Drew @ Modwerx and 445s from DTR here on LPF. Both are always nice to deal with.

Regarding the combination a PBS will not do you any good. I am not sure about broadband coated PBS cubes, but would imagine they are very expensive. The ones I have seen so far are coated either for red OR blue/violet so those wont do you any good. Your best choice is to combine them using a dichroic mirror and an adjustable mount. Have a look at the RGB or Heatsink link in my signature. This might give you some inspiration on a fun little DIY project.

With the dichro offered earlier you are set to go.

Best regards

EDIT: The best description of the dichro mounts can be found going through the heatsink thread. A user asked about them and I made a few pics with comments. A PBS coated for different wavelengts MAY work, but you will have light reflecting back into the diode which may cause malfunction or damage, so imo your best choice is for a dichro combination.
