Hello.

A google search for lasers brought me here and I have a few questions about selling a laser I have.

A few years ago while I was still in university I got a high powered 532nm laser that has since been sitting on the top shelf of my closet. I am interested in selling it but have a few questions to ask.

If i use this forum I see from other posts that often middle-people are involved. Is there a forum standard as to who is used? I realize I have just registered here and am not very active in the laser community but i have a 532nm laser rated at over 400mW of output and since I am not using it would like to make a buck or two :)
If someone could point me in the direction of the exact process of selling something here it would be much appreciated.

Thank you all.

First you will need to find a buyer. After you have a buyer you are going to want a middle man with a laser power meter to confirm the output for the buyer. Once and if the MM confirms that the output is as advertised the buyer will send you the money and the MM will ship out the laser to the buyer.

That's basically it.

Thanks.

Well okay then. It is a Herc-350, Im attaching a couple of pictures including one that shows the output at the time of purchase. This was purchased about two years ago.

Its a great laser, takes about 4 or 5 seconds to reach full output and when i was using it i never had any problems.

I am open to offers but would prefer to find a middleman who has been used before (both my safetey and yours)

Ah yes. One other thing.

I am located in Canada (burlington) and have heard of some problems shipping lasers over the border. Does anyone have any experience with this?

That is a very nice laser. How much are you looking to get for it?

As far as the whole US shipping, I am almost 100% sure that LaserGlow has all the appropriate FDA approvals, as a result there should be absolutely no problem with shipping to the US (aside from the extreme amount of time it takes). Actually IIRC, their site states that their lasers are sold at some high tech store in NYC, therefore making their products completely legal in the US.

The lasers not legal in the US are only those that are not in accordance with FDA safety regulations.

Thanks for the great info!

Im really just taking bids for this thing. As I mentioned I havent used this in two years except to pull it out a couple times when i had a party or to show friends. As such its maybe seen about 15 - 25 hours of usage its whole life.

Im looking to sell so i dont have any minimum bid right now.

You might have trouble selling this for a good price. A member was trying to sell a similar 350mW laser that was capable of 700mW  for $600

It seems like you are right. I've had a few pm's about this already and its quite clear i wont get what i expect. however i really have no use of this laser and am willing to take any offers into consideration.

looks like right now isnt the time to be selling lasers :(
