There's four pins on the push buttons, power ground and two contact pins. I have red as power black as found and each green goes to one of the contact pins on each button
I received my laser harp kit today in the mail. That was fast! When I opened the package, I noticed there was no instruction manual anywhere. I got the board, a bag full of components, and then an LCD and the ATMega328 micro-controller.
The product description does however say there's also a detailed instruction manual, and so did you guys in this thread. After looking around some more, I noticed you guys were talking about the instruction manual being sent by e-mail to purchasers of the kit. If this is the case (and it seems so), then I haven't received the instruction manual yet. Was it supposed to have arrived already? I've looked everywhere (including the Junk folder) and it hasn't been received.
@tim, are you following the switch diagram on page 9 of the manual? The 2 resistors there are to pull the input pins high when the switches aren't activated, they must be there for it to work properly.
I have checked the connections to the LCD and they are all correct but i am still getting the boxes for an output. My push buttons are working, they illuminate and produce 5V to 1 and 2 when pushed. Is this correct or is something still wrong with them?
If i remember right the PDF is not fixed.
I had that problem to.
Take a look at the picture to the lcd and you will see that you are missing the connection to pin 5 Read/Write (R/W). R/W=0: Write, R/W=1: Read
The pdf still need to be fixed.
You can see they used pin 5 yet in their instructions say nothing about it but the pictures tells it.
So if your going to keep selling these can you fix the errors in your pdf please?
Well i added the missing wire on the LCD and have pins 1 and 2 going to ground from 5V when the buttons are pushed but still get nothing on the LCD. I checked all the connections again and everything is wired correctly with the pull up resistors in place too.
Been working with dnar from Photonlexicon and he's been doing some pretty major code updates. SO far he has the opening and closing working much better, he has also programmed it to allow individual channels for each beam. We're now also working on RGB beams, including changing colours when the note is playing etc.
Keep an eye out when we release it. There may be a few small hardware changes too, but nothing more than replacing a few resistors.
Hope you're all ready for awesomeness, dnar and I should be able to release the new code and upgrader app relatively soon!
Here are the new features:
- Better timing and thus note triggering and scanning is more stable
- Sends the MIDI NoteOff command instead of turning velocity to 0
- Increased number of note banks to 7 (Will skip empty note banks if you don't need that many)
- Fully customizable RGB beams, including changing the note playing beam colour
- Adjustable from 8 to 12 beams per bank
- If banks have more or less beams, the harp widens or shrinks to fit them (Like the opening/closing animation)
- Custom channels for ALL notes, including SFX.
- Adjustable velocity for opening/closing SFX and played notes
- Option to save software configuration files so you can load them onto the harp again later.
- Software can automatically detect sharp and flat notes (Like on a piano) and change them to a user defined colour.
- Inbuilt range and checksum detection - Will load safe default values if your harp becomes corrupt for whatever reason.
