Re: Kenom's homeless prevention sale.

I'm interested in the Kryton Groove host. What color is it? Has it ever been used? Does it come with a lens, glass or plastic?

-Tony

It will come with a plain plastic aixiz lens. It has been assembled once I believe. It is unanodized silver with no polish.

... Bump...

Ji Ken,

I just had a thought. What are the chances of you selling your Kenometer in a non-assembled kit form? I don't know if that would be practical regards calibration or difficulty factor but it may help move those items if you had them? I'd sure relish the challenge of a build-your-own LPM. I have a LaserBee I I could match it to.

Trying to help...

Where did you get the "big scary laser do not look into it with your remaining eye" sticker?

The value of the Kenometer is not really in its assembled form, but rather the thermopile unit it's built with. The thermopiles are already calibrated to 1mW to 1mV or something, and just get attached to a power supply and an ADC LCD, with a small zeroing circuit if it's better than a Lite variety. It's not really going to drop the price much for an unassembled version, unless you're talking about the difference between the Pro and Regular models. If he's selling these power meters, assembled or not, he should be keeping them at (at least) the $300 or so mark because you're getting a Coherent thermopile built into the meter, which--alone--usually costs at least $300 on eBay.

I was lucky enough to get in on the Kenometer Lite deal at an insanely low price of $150, and requested an unassembled one because I'll be using it for parts, not as is. I haven't received the parts yet, but I don't need it right away and others should get theirs first.

Re: Kenom's homeless prevention sale.

The original Kenometers with the eBay surplus Heads were from
Coherent and have an output of 1uV/1mW and an active area of
19mm dia.
The Kenometer Pro... USB and Lite models all use the same Head
from another Manufacturer (which I found about a month ago..
but will not disclose here until Kenom OKs it) and have an output
of 1mV/1mW and an active area of 12mm dia.

Re: Kenom's homeless prevention sale.

Correct. These heads are almost as good as the older coherents I was packaging in my older meters.

Yeah... but the new heads are smaller and will handle less wattage
without additional heat sinking than the eBay Coherent heads..
Still good for the uses here...

Hey Bionic-Badger,

I can see that the parts would have an inherent value. I wasn't suggesting that this may be a time for a bargain just that if there are stockpiles of parts that will take time to assemble, and thus sell, then maybe selling the kits unassembled would show a quicker return. I'm sure anyone who is capable of building, and wanting, one would pay whatever price was asked considering the circumstances at the moment. (I'd love to be able to afford to help in this way myself but funds won't stretch that for me.)

I hope your sale is going well Kenom. If I can help again in the future I will.;)

Re: Kenom's homeless prevention sale.

am I asking too much money for the rest, cause I haven't gotten any offers for anything else.. Like the titan for instance would help out the most to sell that.
What were they originally selling for in the sale thread.. The price is gone now.

Odd side note. As a result of the new software I'm using to point out to me any spelling errors, I've learned that the word have not in a contraction is not spelled havn't. It is haven't. 20 years now I've been spelling it havn't. Gonna be hard to change the way I spell that.

Re: Kenom's homeless prevention sale.

You mean you havn't been spelling haven't correctly? It's because you haven't had the software! Bet you haden't thought about till now. No wait, that's hadn't thought about it till now.

I wouldn't know about too pricey. If that was the case though surely someone would've said, "That's too pricey". Guess people are a bit strapped themselves right now.

Flamingpyro, I'd like to apologize for lying to you about the time stamp thing. Once the offer came up from hakzaw1, I saw an opportunity to clean up an issue with hakzaw's meters. It wasn't right of me to lie and give the opportunity for the spiro to hakzaw and not you. Please accept my apology.
